About the apprenticeship
Our Apprenticeships are site based and can take up to two years to complete. Apprentices work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Software Development and an end point assessment. There may be potential to progress to a Level 4 qualification for an additional 2 years. You will be trained in all aspects of the digitalisation processes to support our factory.
Your day-to-day duties will typically include:
The role is both varied and challenging, requiring you to be proactive and take ownership of several key tasks which include:
- Supporting the Digital team in a variety of software programming and agile projects, including, ASP.Net core web applications, Unity Simulations and PLC data collection analytics.
- Working with our Data Controlling team to turn data into useful information and digitalized solutions to problems.
- Continued analysis of processes and data on site to identify improvement opportunities and chances for AI and ML.
- Exposure to project and programme management, ensuring that best practice project management principles are in place.
- Supporting the department in standardisation and good document management practices.
- Support continuous improvement activities in defined areas of responsibility.
- Assist in the organisation and facilitation of meetings, workshops, and events.
- Creation and maintenance of KPI dashboards (PowerBI).
- Completion of all academic assignments within agreed timescale which will be reviewed on a regular basis.
- Supporting STEM activities including work experience, volunteering and attendance at recruitment events.
What you need to make a difference
- Five GCSE's or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above which must include Math, English Language and Science and Level 2 ICT.
- A passion for Computer Science.
- A basic understanding of sprints and working in a semi-agile environment.
- A structured, logical approach to problems and solutions.
- A knowledge of programming languages would be advantageous.
