KING 5, TEGNA’s acclaimed NBC affiliate in Seattle, is seeking a Digital Content Producer who can write, create and produce exciting content for its many digital platforms. The right person for this job has strong news judgement, reacts quickly to changing circumstances and is an exemplary writer who makes our audiences smarter – and does it with style. The ideal candidate will have a multitude of talents, including video editing, graphic creation and can dig for information through interviews, public records searches and social media postings. You will work with top journalists in the field, partnering on unique digital presentations that shine for investigations and franchises like Unsolved, Environment Northwest and Facing Race. Our high-performing team skillfully utilizes various digital tools to research, discover and distribute content. They’re strong writers and great teammates who optimize the news consumer’s experience across all screens. They craft compelling headlines, push alerts and social copy. They are competitive and tightknit, working on the front lines of the newsroom, breaking news every day while scratching their creative itches at the same time. This is a job that will give you back as much as you put in. This position is full-time, hourly, non-union and reports to the Digital Executive Producer.
In this role, you will:
- Discover, research, create and distribute audience-focused, engaging content across all KING 5 platforms through articles, videos, photo galleries, social media posts, push alerts, livestreams and interactive elements
- Urgently and accurately report breaking news as it happens, utilizing all methods of distribution
- Edit reporter-produced articles for accuracy, grammar, AP style, narrative balance and storytelling quality
- Grow KING 5’s audience on our streaming apps through breaking news livestreams, special event coverage and app management
- Increase content consumption by using best practices for search engine optimization, website curation, app notifications and advanced social media distribution
- Write in an engaging, authentic and accurate manner
- Use audience analytics in determining content creation and distribution
Requirements:
- At least two years of experience working in a TV, print or digital newsroom
- Strong news and editorial judgment
- A firm grasp of AP style and copyediting best practices
- Experience with website content management systems
- Experience with photo and video editing systems, such as Photoshop and Premiere
- Experience analyzing digital metrics using tools such as Google Analytics and Taboola
- Understanding of strategy and trends on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
- Ability to calmly handle breaking news and fluid situations under constant deadlines
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills
- A clear understanding of the tenets of professional journalism, as well as high standards of journalistic integrity and ethics
- Ability to work early mornings, nights, holidays, weekends and overtime as needed

Compensation and Benefits We are offering a competitive salary along with benefits such as paid time away from work, health savings account, 401K, paid parental leave, fertility and family planning care, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and student loan refinancing.
Pay Range
$28.85—$32.21 USD
