The Role 

The primary focus for this role is to be a key and influential member of our You will be a member of a Chapter which includes DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering & DevSecOps Engineering. As well as a key member of a Platform Engineering squad which are responsible for the Continuous Improvement over our cloud and on-premises platforms. We look for opportunities to do things smarter, cheaper, quicker, and ensuring everything we do can be re-used across the squads. 

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the pipelines for publishing code to Azure 

• Oversee and coach squads in intra-day deployments mechanisms 

• As part of the chapter drive the DevOps principles and culture across London Market squads 

• With the aid of the chapter, coach and influence engineers to DevOps maturity 

• Oversee and direct the vendor DevOps and Infrastructure resources 

• Create and maintain Azure infrastructure across all environments 

• Propose and implement time-saving initiatives 

• Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data) 

• Monitor issues and availability and ensure the correct escalation path is followed 

• Monitor performance and propose improvements 

• Implement auto-scaling of resources to meet the needs of the moment 

• Collaborate with all London Market Chapters 

• Help to commoditise cloud services where possible 

• Identify engineering limits, bottlenecks and tipping points before they’re reached 

Person Specification 

Mandatory skillset:

• Experience of working as an engineer, working on solutions in Azure or hybrid cloud. Preferably with Azure DevOps. 

• Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates 

• Experience setting up and working with Azure DevOps pipelines 

• Knowledge of Cloud native, microservices, containerized systems, preferably with Kubernetes 

• To have a strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile way of working
