Our Western Development team is looking for a talented Development Manager to help support the efforts of our fast-growing company. Adapture Renewables is owned by KIRKBI – the private holding and investment company of the Kirk Kristiansen family founded to build a sustainable future for the LEGO® brand through generations.
Overview
This position will work in our Western Development team and lead the development of renewable energy projects in WECC and support pipeline growth. This role will report to the Senior Director of Development for the Western Region. The candidate will ideally be based near our Bay Area home office.
Core Responsibilities
• Manage the development of utility-scale solar and storage projects.
• Manage multiple projects involving site selection, site control, local relationships, environmental studies, discretionary permitting, interconnection process, property tax abatement process and offtake
• Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior developers by delegating project work and overseeing progress.
• Perform due diligence and risk assessment of similar project development activities and acquisitions.
• Maintain project schedules and budgets.
• Provide transparent, accurate, and timely progress updates to management.
• Visit project sites, third party consultants, transmission planning engineers, landowners, or local officials as required.
• Lead project coordination with internal teams and external consultants, including project finance, engineering, construction, and legal teams.
• Own project development lifecycle through NTP.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum of 4 years of proven success in the acquisition and/or greenfield development of utility-scale renewable energy projects in multiple WECC markets, ideally including CAISO.
• Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess commercial and project management experience in renewable energy.
• Ability to set up and maintain project budgets and schedules.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Well organized and eager to engage and manage several projects at various stages of development from land prospecting through initial operations.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Collaborative, task flexible, and goal-oriented team contributor.
• Ability to travel 15-20% of the time.
