We are looking for a Data Retention subject matter expert to join our team to ensure data retention schedules exist across the organisation. You will be responsible for educating business users and supporting them, ensuring their business area is compliant with relevant regulations and industry best practices, as well as validating data is not being stored longer than required.
You will be joining the data function that is focused on establishing strong data governance and data management practices across the organisation. You will be part of a core working group that is delivering a multi-year programme of data initiatives, where your experience and success will shape current and future opportunities. You will work with a team of passionate and invested data professionals who will support you in establishing strong data fundamentals on which to build.

Job Description:
As a Data Retention Subject Matter Expert, you will:
- Lead the roll out of Data Retention schedules across the organisation to ensure compliance with relevant contractual, geographical, regulatory and industry best practices.
- Support the business in training, creation and maintenance of data retention schedules, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurately reflect our data management practices.
- Develop a library of authoritative regulatory and legislative sources to validate retention periods.
- Develop the Data Retention standard to ensure content is current and fit for purpose.
- Provide regular programme reporting KPI’s to measure progress and compliance.
- Support the roll out of a dedicated data retention tool for the management of the completed schedules.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure their needs are met and that they are kept informed about progress on the project.
- Develop required training materials to support education of users. Construction of real business use cases and examples to drive right behaviours and understanding.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in creation and deploying data retention schedules across a business.
- Previous responsibility for leading their own project or programme.
- Strong knowledge of data management principles and practices, including, data governance roles, data retention standards and schedules.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence in facilitating meetings and workshops to reach desired outcomes.
