Data Operations Engineer
Job location: Warsaw or remote
You will be responsible for:
This role involves overseeing data processing from external sources on the Microsoft Azure platform, utilizing Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure PostgreSQL Server, Linux virtual machines, SQL, and Python. The primary responsibilities include investigating and analyzing both technical and data quality issues, implementing new data sources, transforming them from their initial format to the system-adopted format, and validating process effectiveness.
This position requires close collaboration (in English) with data suppliers and recipients (external companies) as well as internal stakeholders (our customer business analysts’ team)
There will be on-call duties during the workweek, approximately once per week, including one afternoon shift (15:00-23:00). Weekend on-call duties will be required less than once per month.
Requirements:
- Python: Basic coding skills, including experience with pandas, unit testing (pytest), and writing simple ETL scripts.
- Java: Ability to read and understand code, perform basic troubleshooting, and analyze logs. A medium level of proficiency is expected, focusing on debugging and interpreting logic rather than full-scale development.
- SQL: Ability to write simple queries, especially for troubleshooting and data analysis.
- Docker: Familiarity with container basics, such as starting/stopping containers, checking logs, and understanding container layers.
- Microsoft Azure: Experience with core services like Key Vault, ACR, VMs, ADLS/Blob storage, and basic monitoring.
- PostgreSQL: Basic database skills, including table creation, data selection, and use of tools like DBeaver or pgAdmin.
- Linux/Bash: Basic command-line skills for tasks like file manipulation, remote connections, and simple VM management.
- APIs: Knowledge of making requests with APIs (e.g., Postman), handling bearer tokens, and reading API documentation for adjustments.
- On-Call Availability: Willingness to occasionally cover late shifts and some weekends during peak times.
We appreciate:
- GitHub: Basic experience with version control, branching, pull requests, and GitHub Actions.
- Kubernetes: Understanding of clusters and pods, with ability to check logs and perform simple tasks.
- Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with Grafana, Azure metrics, and basic alerting.
- Argo Workflows: Exposure to ETL pipelines in Argo.
- YAML: Ability to read and edit YAML configuration files.
- Databricks: Basic troubleshooting and monitoring, with minimal ETL interaction.
- Agile/Scrum: Familiarity with agile methodologies, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
