Job Description

The Credit Risk Manager will be responsible of all aspects of Credit Risk Management of our German office. The individual will be responsible for the end-to-end credit processes from customer onboarding and KYC, credit risk assessment and analyses, credit risk structuring, limit proposal and approval, exposure reporting and control. This includes taking a leading role in mitigating credit risk, ensuring adequate risk taking by assessing the financial strength of our commercial partners and ensuring compliance with our credit risk processes and policies.

The ideal candidate will possess relevant credit risk management experience gained in the energy commodity or energy utility sector, strong analytical and interpersonal skills and an ability to interact and communicate at all levels of seniority.   

Based in Budapest (Hungary), the individual will report to the CFO of MET Germany AG and work alongside a dynamic and diverse team of Credit Risk Managers and Credit Risk Analysts servicing our different European offices.  

Essential responsibilities

  • Manage the full credit life cycle of a portfolio of retail, industrial & commercial counterparts.
  • Responsible for the onboarding and KYC process.
  • Assess the credit and financial strength of our commercial partners by performing qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Advise on acceptable level of credit risk, make clear and concise credit recommendation to decision makers.
  • Maintain credit risk ratings, credit risk limits, probability of default and collateral instruments.
  • Mitigate credit exposure by actively managing credit terms and collateral instruments, such as standby LCs, cash deposit and prepayments.
  • Manage credit insurance policies including ensuring insurance limits are up to date, turnover declaration made on time and premium accurately calculated.
  • Negotiate and advise on Credit Protection Clauses and Netting Agreements
  • Monitor credit risk exposure and credit risk limit utilisation. Anticipate and actively remedy any credit risk breaches by proposing and implementing action plans.
  • Perform industry specific research, portfolio stress testing and alert on credit early warning signs.
  • Actively engage with Front, Middle, Back Office and other Support Functions. Develop key interactions with colleagues and industry peers.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and controls.
  • Liaise with internal and external legal advisor to maximize recovery efforts from financially distressed or insolvent counterparties.
  • Ensure compliance with MET Credit & Risk Management Policies.

Qualifications

  • Master degree in finance/economics
  • 4- 5 years' experience in credit risk
  • Experience in energy space is highly appreciated
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills
  • Accuracy, detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize deliveries.
