Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, giving the brightest, most interesting, and most creative people on the internet the power of their own publishing platform. The terms of our culture should not be set by gate-keeping legacy media or chaos-fueling social media, but by the people who make and participate in that culture. Substack’s model, based on direct subscriptions, has fueled an explosion of independent publishing. It empowers creators with economic autonomy, creative ownership, and a direct connection to their most engaged audiences.
We’re hiring a Creator Partnerships Manager to recruit and support creators shaping the future of media. This role focuses on unlocking opportunities for creators to build independent media empires, leveraging Substack’s features like video, writing, podcasting, and group chats.
This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with creators producing audio, video, and other multimedia formats, empowering them to thrive through ownership, independence, and authentic relationships with their true fans. While platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X make it difficult for creators to translate their followers into off-platform success—or even share outside links—Substack provides creators with a space to grow confidently and sustainably. You’ll work closely with creators who are reshaping the cultural landscape, guiding them as they use Substack to carve out their space in a media world increasingly driven by independent voices rather than traditional gatekeepers.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of lead sourcing and outreach to recruit creators producing multimedia content (audio, video, and beyond) who have the ambition to build independent media empires.
- Collaborate with creators to develop tailored strategies for building their presence on Substack, helping them own their creative space and grow their audience.
- Partner with internal teams (communications, product, and data) to identify promising creator segments and continuously refine the Substack creator experience.
- Work cross-functionally to enhance creator outreach strategies and streamline processes for onboarding and supporting creators effectively.
- Help showcase Substack as the home for the new creative class, where creators can connect directly with their true fans and build thriving media businesses.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with creators, particularly in video, audio, or other multimedia formats.
- A strong network in the creator ecosystem, including relationships with talent agencies, managers, and studios.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with sharp attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of digital creator trends and app-native formats like video, live events, and community engagement.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Familiarity with CRM tools is a plus.
- Previous experience in sales, partnerships, or business development is a plus.
- Passion for Substack’s mission to empower creators with ownership, independence, and financial success.
Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $100,000-130,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Substack is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or transgender status), age, national origin, veteran or disability status. We’re seeking people passionate about enabling independent expression and building a better business model for creators. If you want to see what media, communities, and content can become when unmoored from advertising models, and you have the skills and experience to contribute, we’d love to meet you.

What We Do
Substack lets writers connect with their audience on their own terms and earn money doing it. We make it simple for writers to publish to an email list that they own, get discovered on the web, and charge for subscriptions.
More than 500,000 people pay to subscribe to writers across the Substack network, and the top writers make millions of dollars a year. Substack’s model depends on the success of writers using Substack – we only make money when they do.
“Substack makes it dead simple to start a newsletter and get paid for it.” – Judd Legum, author of Popular Information
"Substack gives me a way to connect with my audience on my own terms.” – Lyz Lenz, author of God Land and Men Yell At Me
