What’s the role
The CR Advisor sits within the UK Corporate Relations team which looks after the Downstream and Renewables (predominantly transport and renewable power and energy) businesses in the UK. The team cover the communications, policy, and government affairs work to support the operation of this part of our business and vitally, it’s future growth.
What you’ll be doing
As the CR Advisor for Downstream and Renewables, you will be maintaining intimate knowledge of the business environment relating to the transport (predominantly EV) and renewable power (wind and solar) sectors, including relevant UK Government policy, external trends, opportunities and challenges.
Other Responsibilities include:

Supporting development of advocacy strategies, UK policy positions, business narratives & messaging relating to the Downstream & Renewables business, aligned with their objectives, with a particular focus on the road transport and renewable power generation sectors.

Mapping and supporting engagement with stakeholders relevant to the sectors including UK Government officials, MPs, key influencers and industry associations.

Supporting development of compelling and impactful communications and events that convey Shell's credible, commercial position as a progressive player in the UK energy transition.

Support current business activities including Mobility and EV, solar and wind projects

In conjunction with the UK Social Performance Team, and others beyond the UK CR team, ensuring operational, project and reputational risks (including non-technical risks) and opportunities are assessed at an early stage, understood by the business, mitigated or leveraged, and integrated into business plans.

Supporting the team in maintaining effective support for crisis & emergency response / incident management
What you bring
-
A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience
-
Excellent (English) communication and writing skills
-
Experience in business partnering, including forming and sustaining relationships with business and functional leaders
-
Experience in government policy and an understanding of the UK political system is an advantage
-
Experience in a communication and/or Public Affairs role
-
Experience in building trust with external stakeholders and a proven track record of managing complex stakeholder relationships with the ability to work effectively in challenging environments

Experience of delivering external communications & engagement strategies and events

Ability to translate business objectives into deliverable advocacy and communication plans

Integrative working style: ability to work in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and deliver challenging projects under time pressure without formal control
