Our Brussels team was created c. 4 years ago and continues its development. We advise on a broad range of banking and finance transactions, including debt finance, capital markets and structured finance operations (debt) and fund transactions, and provides sophisticated financial regulatory advice (including in relation to payment services, asset management regulation and sustainable finance). We act both on the issuer / sponsor / borrower’s side and arranger/lender’s side.
Our team, which benefits from the support of specialists know-how lawyers, is regularly involved with government and regulatory bodies, industry groups and trade association as well as policy initiatives with respect to financial services regulations and market practices. To support our expansion, we are looking for a mid-level associate (3-5 years of relevant experience) to sustain the growth of our practice in Brussels.
The candidate we are looking for:
(a) has obtained a masters degree in law in Belgium with excellent academic results (an international experience, such as secondments, additional masters or secondments is a plus);
(b) has completed the bar legal training (stage) with a Belgian bar association;
(c) has between 3 and 5 years of relevant experience in the banking & finance (or equivalent) practice group of a reputable law firm in Belgium;
(d) is native French or Dutch speaker, with a good command of the other main national language and an excellent command of English (written and spoken);
(e) has strong technical capabilities with strong project management responsibility, ensuring timely delivery to high quality standards;
(f) is aware of the latest legal developments affecting our practice and is willing to continue learning throughout the development of his or her career;
(g) has good working relationships with clients, regulators and counterparties and is willing to develop such relationships;
(h) has a good understanding of clients, the sector and the associated risks and opportunities;
(i) is a real team player able to work effectively with others and act as a source of advice to colleagues, willing to share knowledge and expertise.
