This position is responsible for handling complex legal matters and projects in all facets of gategroup business in the United States.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate:

  • $160,000 -$165,000 Per Year
  • This position is eligible for incentive pay of 20% of the base salary.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate all legal agreements entered by or on behalf of gategroup, including customer and vendor agreements.

  • Provides strategic counsel in all phases of strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.  Draft and negotiate agreements related to the same.

  • Respond to and defend gategroup entities before administrative and regulatory agencies.

  • Provides legal advice related to labor and employment matters on a routine basis, including hiring, termination, labor negotiations, labor contract analysis, grievance procedures and litigation.

  • Assists in conducting legal audits of operations to identify best practices and ensures compliance with laws.

  • Develops and assists with development and implementation of policies and procedures as directed by the Division General Counsel.

  • Advises business leaders and operational staff on optimal compliance practices and most appropriate mechanisms to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Participates in special projects as assigned by the Division General Counsel.

  • Drafts legal memoranda and analysis of matters, as requested by General Counsel.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Law degree required. 

Work Experience:

  • 5-7 years post-graduate professional experience in a large law firm or corporate setting.

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

  • Virginia State Bar license or equivalent.

Job Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas (as needed by the business):  contracts, employment, litigation, compliance, taxation, M&A.

  • Ability to evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the organization’s business.

  • Must have outstanding attention to detail

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities

  • Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required

  • Excellent time management skills required

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, solve problems, make recommendations, and draw valid conclusions in a timely and accurate manner.

Language / Communication Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with external customers and all levels of management.
