Job Description Summary
Responsible for assuring the safety, protection and assistance of students, staff, faculty, and visitors to the University. The corporal reports activities and incidents at University Campus, providing for the security and safety of property, students, staff and other individuals. This is an administrative position that reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Administration. This corporal assists the Deputy Chief of Administration in ongoing projects, reporting activities, planning, logistics, or as otherwise needed.

Duties and Tasks:

- Responsible for maintaining the university’s fleet of vehicles. Assists Deputy Chief of Administration with operational projects within the Division of Student Affairs, planning, emergency management, procurement, the Safe Ride program, and other activities.
- Provides training and guidance to other members of the department and assists in investigations as needed.
- Liaison between shift officers and University Safety Command Staff.
- Assist with environmental health and safety issues, parking and traffic services; promote and ensure the safety and security of University students, personnel, and property; ensure enforcement of all applicable University regulations, criminal codes, and government safety requirements.
- Fulfill the duties of a University Safety Officer.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Computer proficiency.
- Previous Saint Leo University, University Safety Department experience.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma.
- Law Enforcement/Military experience preferred
- At least two years of experience in a security or law enforcement adjacent role.
- Associate’s degree preferred
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
Physical Demands:
- Must be capable of walking long distances, and climbing flights of stairs.
