Job Overview

The Controller oversees General Accounting and the Financial controls for the Company.  This role orchestrates the annual financial audit and coordinates with Tax partners to ensure that the Company’s statutory obligations are met.  A successful candidate will be adept at cross-functional interaction, be highly organized and function well in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). 
• Lead month-end close process to include journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Prepare, analyze, and review weekly, monthly, and quarterly results relating to the overall performance of company strategies. 
• Manage capital assets; ensure proper recording, disposal, amortization, and tracking. - Lead reporting efforts and information required for tax purposes including Income, Personal Property, and Sales & Use Tax compliance. Manage relationships with external accounting partners.
• Oversee annual financial audits by preparing reconciliations, supporting schedules and developing ongoing readiness plan for future audits.
• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures. 
• Develop and maintain financial accounting systems and controls for cash management, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, and banking.
• Proactively manage and forecast business cash flow identifying and reporting needs well in advance. 
• Partner with external accounting teams to ensure compliance with US Tax and SALT requirements for reporting states.
• Ensure appropriate implementation of recent and new GAAP interpretations including ASC 606 and 842. 
• Own proactive accounting oversight and contractual compliance of manufacturing cost, procurement cost, duties, transportation cost, warehousing cost and related margin management/optimization. 
• Oversee proactive management of SG&A budgets with the team and ensure proper controls over PO, invoice approval and disbursements. 
• Supervision of two accountants
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting with demonstrated expertise in US GAAP.
• CPA and/or Big 4 accounting experience highly desired.
• 10-15 years of experience with 3-5 years in apparel and/or e-commerce.
• Ideal candidate has growth experience in a $100M-$250M revenue environment.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Working knowledge of ERP platforms (Netsuite ideal) and KPI/dashboard software.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
