Job Summary:
As a Control Manager supporting Consumer Banking, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of our control environment for Consumer Banking's Affluent Product, Community and Business Development as well as Corporate DEI, with a focus on enhancing our control framework, with a strong emphasis on data management, analytics, and process efficiencies. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting the businesses at the Executive Director level, and driving strategic initiatives that safeguard our business while fostering innovation and growth. In Control Management, you are exposed to a stimulating and rewarding environment, where a wide range of investment and banking activities require engagement with cross-disciplinary teams to build creative solutions.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust control framework that aligns with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Continuously assess and enhance control processes to mitigate risks and ensure compliance, focusing on continual process improvement and innovation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize and automate control processes, enhance efficiencies, and reduce operational costs.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks within the Consumer Banking Affluent, Community Banking and Development, and Corporate DEI divisions.
  • Collaborate with data teams to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of data used in control activities.
  • Work closely with Consumer Banking management to understand business objectives and provide control-related insights and recommendations.
  • Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Risk, Compliance, Audit, and Technology.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing regular updates on control performance and emerging risks.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential control gaps and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified issues and enhance the overall control environment.
  • Lead and mentor a team of control professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.


Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of financial services experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance.
  • Proven experience in control management, risk management, or a related field within the financial services industry.
  • Strong expertise in data management, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experienced in partnering with technology and business partners to design and implement process automation solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to control management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to draw conclusions from data and influence business leaders.
  • Outstanding networking, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to successfully navigate, influence, and lead collaboratively in a complex infrastructure.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

Control Management maintains a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model that aligns managers with each function and region to mitigate operational risk. The team focuses on four areas: Control Design & Expertise, Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment, Issues & Control Deficiencies and Control Governance & Reporting.
