Job Description

*This is a hybrid role and requires 2 days in our Lehi, UT office.*

Reporting to the VP, Revenue Operations You will be a right hand to the Finance Manager providing financial analyses, being a stickler for compliance, and a guru for KPI reporting, forecasting, sales commissions, and modelling. Nearmap is looking for a highly motivated Commercial Financial Analyst to take a lead role in driving our sales commission plans, calculations, and audit accuracy globally. This role will be working cross-functionally with the Sales Org, Sales Ops, Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Payroll, Legal, and HR teams and will be responsible for commissions and bonus operations including variable compensations calculations, reporting, and analysis. This role is Hybrid-Remote and requires two days onsite in our Lehi, Utah office to collaborate with our Nearmap team. The ideal candidate would be a self starter who brings with them 4-6 years of Sales variable compensation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the US receivables cycles 
  • Being the 007 of vendor management and cash management 
  • Keeping our Federal and State compliance in check (e.g. Business licenses, SOS registrations, regulatory communications, etc…) 
  • Staying on top of Sales & Use Tax registration, submission and reporting 
  • Partnering with the Systems Administrator to ensure all system changes are robust and the impact to others has been taken into consideration 
  • Month-end reconciliation of general ledger accounts 
  • Responsible for month-end journal entries and analysis of general ledger accounts 
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis as assigned by the US Finance Manager
  • People manager for Accounts Recievable Specialist 
  • Hold team members accountable with clear objectives & KPls. 
  • Drive high performance in the team through managing and coaching and providing quality feedback. 
  • Facilitate regular 1:1’s to discuss issues, share knowledge, share achievements, and provide training and direction. 
  • Identify training and development needs and provide the resources needed to develop team members.
  • Fully understand and administer Nearmap’s Sales Compensation plans ·
  • Prepare, calculate, and analyze the monthly commissions payout in accordance to Nearmap’s monthly/quarterly cadence 
  • Distribute and track completeness of compensation plan sign-off from sales personnel to ensure compliance with company policies 
  • Support the Accounting team in timely and accurate preparation of monthly accruals and reconciliations for commissions accounting 
  • Act as Point of Contact for all commissions related questions and provide thorough and timely answers to the sales and sales management teams and maintain regular customer service 
  • Effective communicator who can take complex logic and scenarios and describe them simply and clearly to various internal parties 
  • Document approvals and other support materials for any adjustment that will result in changes to pay and assist in drafting policies and procedures around adjustments
  • Develop, maintain, and update tool necessary to sales commissions reporting 
  • Build documentation to effectively handle all commissions related processes 
  • Drive process and systems improvements related to commissions process and lead User Acceptance Testing for annual compensation plan changes 
  • Provide cross-functional support regarding commissions related inquiries and requests 
  • Maintain, document, and adhere to internal controls to ensure Sox and policy compliance 
  • Ad Hoc projects and requests, as needed
  • Complies with responsibilities of working for a public company. 
  • Complies with all local legislative requirements. 
  • Adheres to company guidelines and the corporate Code of Conduct. 
  • Where appropriate keeps up to date with legislative requirements. 
  • Acts in an ethical way when dealing with company assets and other people.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in accounting, finance, economics, or other quantitative fields preferred ·
  • At least 3 years of Proven Analysis experience 
  • 3+ years of high-tech company experience (SaaS/Cloud model preferred) in Finance or accounting with minimum 2-3 years’ experience as commissions administrator
  • MS Office Suite with advanced Excel 
  • Strong leadership skills and can present complex information laymen’s terms 
  • A knack for attention to detail with the ability to work autonomously 
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel skills and passion for new technologies 
  • Experience with CRM/HRIS systems like Salesforce and Workday is preferred
  • A sense of humor and ability to perform job functions with a positive, energetic, driven, and hands on approach. 
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and thrive in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment 
  • Motivated to work cross-functionally in a role which supports multiple business partners
  • Degree in the field of commerce, finance or accounting
