The Role
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our Private Cloud Operations Team. This role will support the Logicalis Private Cloud environment, which operates from two data centres within Victoria, and includes:
- IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
- DPaaS (Data Protection as a Service); and
- DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service)
The IaaS environment is built on the VMware stack—including vCenter, vCloud Director, ESXi, Log Insights, Network Insights, and Operations Manager—and is supported by CommVault for DPaaS and Zerto for DRaaS.
Your responsibilities will include the day-to-day operation of the environment, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance to ensure smooth operations. You will also assist the Cloud Team with managing the underlying infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking equipment. You will get hands on in our two data centres and get to rack/stack/maintain a significant amount the infrastructure that underpins the environment. You will have the support of a senior team with a deep understanding of the technologies used within the Private Cloud to support you in the journey.
There is a paid after-hours on-call aspect to the role, but this will only come into play once you have a solid grasp on the environment. You will have the support of the immediate team as is always the case, even amongst the current Private Cloud team. Nobody can be an expert in everything! The roster runs for one week, every 5-6 weeks.
