Clinical Advisor - Latam

InterSystems has been active in Chile since 2007 and our Trakcare HIS solution is playing a pivotal role in changing the way healthcare is delivered in Chile. Having initially secured The West Metropolitan Health Service which is part of the National System of Health Services (SNSS).
The main function of this programme is to implement actions for the promotion and protection of health service, as well as the recovery and rehabilitation of patients, who live or work in the territory under their medical responsibility (the western part of the metropolitan area and over 20 health centers)
The implementation of this healthcare information system, which will collect, process and store clinical and administrative data, is the first step of a comprehensive reform proposal from the Chilean Healthcare Ministry. The proposal’s main objectives are to decrease healthcare costs while improving patient access and overall quality management. The focus is on exceeding the expectations of millions of citizens who are using the public health system by enabling improved service delivery and high quality care for these healthcare consumers.
Responsibilities:
The Clinical Advisor will play a key role is raising awareness and increasing the adoption of InterSystems HealthShare and TrakCare solutions within Hospitals in Latam. The Clinical Advisor needs to have current or recent relevant experience in the Public Hospital system in Chile. Current working knowledge of clinical practices and methods is deemed invaluable by Intersystems as it supports a better understanding of our existing and prospective customers. The main customers are made up of Public Hospitals/Boards throughout Latin America.
In addition to working with external customers, the Clinical Advisor will act internally as a thought leader advising InterSystems on how the company can apply functionality to customer issues and to better support clinical adoption.
The role will focus on activities that fall predominantly within areas;
Pre-Sales
- Presentations to clinical/customer audiences and/or product demonstrations/trade shows
- Project evaluation, bid/tender process follow up and demo scenario set up
- Contribution to clinical documentation and marketing material
Product need definition and local edition configuration
- Contribution to new product need definition
- Contribution to local product edition configuration (clinical aspects)
Post-Sales
- Participation in project workshops and go live events as clinical advisor
- Contribution to preparation for meetings with clinicians
- Contribution to User Adoption strategy
- Participation in project steering committees as medical officer
It is recognized that this role may not be a full time position as the chosen candidate may have ongoing commitments as a practicing clinician.
- Follow trends in Healthcare, Evidence Based Medicine, Clinical Quality Measures, Accountable Care, Healthcare Informatics and Clinical Decision Support to enable the post holder to advise Executive leadership and product development teams
- Develop and maintain relationships within Chilean Public Hospitals and other relevant bodies and in doing so Provide strategic insight/guidance on behalf of InterSystems
- Perform the role of Clinical Safety Officer in Chile ensuring compliance with all matters pertaining to appropriate standards. To act as subject matter expertise in medical risk assessments.
- Provide healthcare technology expertise to product, sales and marketing management teams to ensure the successful positioning of InterSystems solutions.
- Provide market-driven information for product strategy and development direction using industry expertise and direct interaction with customers, prospects, analysts, and other external resources
- Represent InterSystems to medical societies, advocacy groups and medical advisory boards
- Deliver the InterSystems strategy to senior clinical leaders and peers in the Latin American Healthcare market
- Advise and assist in developing and maintaining processes that govern pilots
Qualifications:
- Possess strong grasp of clinical workflow in multiple care settings, interest in health information systems and outcomes measurement
- A clinician who understands major trends in healthcare and managed care, and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools and can advise on best practice.
- Extensive exposure to working with Chilean Public Hospitals
- Current clinical practice or a previous background of sustained clinical practice and continued active clinical engagement
- A strong leader with a mature sense of priorities and solid practical experience who can design and implement systems within the framework of technical boundaries
- Clinical domain knowledge and credibility within healthcare community
- Confident communication style when dealing with Senior Clinical Staff in current or potential clients. Able to recognise when to lead a conversation and when to let client clinicians express their opinions.
- Competent at delivering presentations to clinical/customer audiences and/or product demonstrations.
- Previous experience as a CMIO or CCIO in a multi-organization clinical setting preferred. Experience in the planning, selection, implementation and performance assessment of health IT solutions
- Direct experience with Electronic Health Record systems, Health informatics, Clinical Decision Support systems, Evidence Based Medicine, Clinical Quality Measures
