The CIO for SLED will be focused on developing business opportunities in partnership with the SLED field Sales teams across National State & Local Governments for the Tanium product suite.  The CIO is a “been there, done that” executive-level person who can leverage their experience to gain access to customer and partner executivesKnowledge of Tanium while not a requirement is a plus but having implemented large scale transformational change programs in large state, county or university settings is required. 

What you’ll do:

  • Drive incremental revenues
  • Create the voice in the SLED space and allows the person to have a high-level strategic partnership with Tanium Sales and which unfolds into a sale
  • Run and participate in speaking/panel sessions to promote Tanium
  • Attend SLED roundtables - discuss best practices, elevated discussions, engaged in all national events including Blackhat, NASCIO, RSA, and Etc.
  • Conduct Executive (CIO/CISO) level meetings and Executive Business Reviews (EBRs)
  • Develop Net new logos as part of Tanium’s Whole of State strategy and the focus to get all 50 states on board as customers of Tanium
  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to attract the attention of State and Local Government CIO’s
  • Partner with Alliances - Discuss needed Alliances, and drive needed state contracts
  • Build, deepen and maintain high level contacts with current and prospective business partners to increase market penetration and brand recognition. Meet one-on-one with CIO’s and CISO’s to educate them on the advantages of the Tanium products
  • Deliver presentations on Tanium products to CIO’s and CISO’s to grow the business across the country with particular focus on the Eastern US and Canadian government
  • Business Plan Alignment - Help drive key initiatives and measure business plan and be part of the Lobbyist interview process
  • Identify and attend relevant industry and regional events and trade shows to network and develop new business opportunities. Use conferences to increase brand recognition and product penetration in the assigned regions
  • Increase product sales and ensure the short, medium and long term profitability of the portfolio of products
  • Meet monthly goals for outbound calls, campaigns and other related sales initiatives
  • Update and record all sales activities and plans in the appropriate systems. Regularly provide status reports on the activities and results to the management team
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Establish weekly communication cadence with SLED sales Leadership across the Country
  • Position may be required to travel 50%+ to cover an assigned geographic region 

We’re looking for someone with:  

  • Education
    • BS/BA degree in a related field
    • Masters in Comp Sci or MBA a plus
  • Experience and Qualifications 
    • Strong working knowledge of the SLED vertical, particularly State Government or Education and how IT  / Security functions within it
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Salesforce
    • A minimum of 10+ years related experience in the State, Local, and Government vertical

What you’ll get 

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $475,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.

In addition to an annual base salary, team members will receive equity awards and a generous benefits package consisting of medical, dental and vision plan, family planning benefits, health savings account, flexible spending account, transportation savings account, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, life, accident and disability coverage, business travel accident insurance, employee assistance programs, disability insurance, and other well-being benefits.
