The Chief Engineer manages the operations of the Engineering and Production departments and is responsible for the maintenance of all broadcast technology, IT equipment, and vehicles at the station’s locations including compliance with rules and regulations applicable to FCC, local, state, and federal laws.

Oversees the distribution of statewide and regional West Virginia University sports content to other Nexstar stations along with AT&T SportsNet in Pittsburgh.

Manages engineering and technology budgets and capital projects to the established budgets.

Requirements & Skills:
-
Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, Communications, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred.

Requires a working knowledge of television and digital studio broadcast and production systems.

Experience managing, maintaining, and supporting IT and networking systems.

Communication skills along with organizational and interpersonal skills as well as report writing responsibilities for WBOY, Nexstar, and the FCC.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work flexible hours and be on call as needed for operations.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Fluency in English; strong communication, both verbal and written.

Evaluates, selects, installs, services, and maintains station equipment and IT systems.

Communicates and coordinates equipment maintenance and training with vendors/contractors.

Works closely with General Manager and department managers to ensure station objectives are being met.

Evaluates employee access and trains employees on station systems and equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.
