SUMMARY:

Tyson Foods is looking for an analytically minded storyteller to join its Category Management & Analytics team, supporting the Ahold arm (Stop & Shop, The Giant Company, & Giant Food) of Ahold Delhaize USA. The role is based off-site and will require travel to customer and internal meetings.

This position is responsible for developing category-centric solutions and strategies to drive growth with Tyson Foods’ key retail grocery customers. Results are expected to be achieved through multiple data sources and high-quality analysis to provide clearly communicated and actionable insights for our customers and sales partners. This role often provides independent guidance to the customer around strategic management of product categories and departments while maximizing growth for both the customer and Tyson Foods, including our portfolio of leading brands. Additionally, this role partners with cross functional partners in Customer Development (sales), Analytics, Insights, Commerce Marketing, eCommerce, Business Operations and Sales Planning as well as other internal groups to identify ways to achieve Tyson sales, distribution, share and financial objectives. Day-to-day interaction is highly focused on partnership with Tyson’s Customer Development team and the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboration with customer partners, cultivating strong business relationships that establish Tyson Foods as the essential partner for category management needs.
  • Serving as omnichannel subject matter expert on customer teams through in-depth understanding of applicable sales data sources, loyalty data and the customer’s category go-to-market strategies in store and online.
  • Analysis of category, competitive and market trends utilizing syndicated data (IRI/NielsenIQ), retailer sales data, and additional insight and data sources.
  • Use of generally available and proprietary programs to find, analyze and communicate insights, including programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and industry resources such as NielsenIQ/Circana, shopper and panel data, promotional tracking tools and eCommerce auditing software.
  • Developing insight-based recommendations based on analysis of shelf space and assortment in-store and online through proprietary tools and resources.
  • Developing and presenting category reviews, business reviews, new item presentations and executive-level top-to-top presentations with cross functional partners to customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Providing ongoing reporting and scorecards to customers and sales team against key goals (KPIs) and initiatives
  • Ensuring optimal return for category data, insight, and resource investments with our customers.
  • Playing a part in driving Tyson’s Category Management & Analytics team performance, development, and impact through socialization of best practices and perspective with colleagues in formal and informal forums.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Data Analytics, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years in Category Management, analytic-heavy Sales roles, Shopper Insights, or Consumer Insights. Experience with fast-moving consumer goods or grocery industry a plus.
  • Technical Skills: advanced skills in Excel & PowerPoint required. Power BI, and Power Query a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
  • Ability to distill complex data into understandable, actionable stories.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative, indispensable partnerships with customers and internal business partners across functional teams.
  • Strong planning and organization skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of retail merchandising and in store/online execution tactics.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time for customer meetings and internal meetings (varies based on location relative to customer).

Any listed amounts represent the base pay range. Additional compensation may be available for this position based on various factors such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses. Pay is just one part of Tyson’s total compensation package.
