Capital Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a Capital Project Engineer (II, III or Sr) at the Esterhazy K3 Mine. The Capital Project Engineer will manage a portfolio of projects varying between Surface, Shafts and Underground at our K3 location. Projects will include new Mine Development as well as Asset Sustaining projects. Tasks relating to this job include preliminary or detailed project scoping, engineering design, scheduling, cost estimating, procurement, supervision, execution, and construction management. The engineer will also support production and maintenance teams by working with the Esterhazy team to achieve the strategic priorities of Mosaic.

What will you be Responsible For?

  • Project execution and management of capital projects of varying size and complexity
  • Responsible for scope, schedule, budget, safety and quality
  • Responsible for contractor management and driving positive safety culture
  • Project administration including project approval, reporting schedule updates
  • Technical design of projects and oversite of third-party engineering
  • Cost control including developing estimates and budgets and providing monthly forecasting for projects
  • Schedule development and reporting
  • Engineering design (developing engineering work packages for projects)
  • Construction oversite in an industrial environment
  • Department initiatives (non-project specific engineering, project management process definition)
  • Site and company initiatives to support safety, production, expansion and maintenance.
  • Technical/personal development and coaching others (contractors, trades, training courses, etc.)

What do you need for this role?

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, Mechanical engineer degree, preferred.
  • Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or P.Eng designation with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Broad engineering and construction knowledge in all disciplines is an asset
  • Computer Skills in MS Office Suite are required
  • Engineering Software skills required
  • Highly Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities
  • We will consider a lower Engineer Designation if candidate has fewer years of experience
  • Must be able to work in an underground mine environment

Engineer II

  • 2+ years of Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience with strong problem solving skills

Engineer III

  • 4+ years of Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience with strong problem solving skills
  • Relevant construction management experience in and industrial environment
  • Registered as an P.Eng designation with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Experience delivering projects in an operating industrial plant or brownfield environment
  • Experience in an underground mine environment is desirable
  • Demonstrate strengths in soft skills related to people management, leadership and written/verbal communications.

Engineer Senior

  • 8+ years of Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience with strong problem solving skills
  • Relevant construction management experience in and industrial environment
  • Registered as an P.Eng designation with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Experience delivering projects in an operating industrial plant or brownfield environment.
  • Experience in an underground mine environment is desirable
  • Demonstrate strengths in soft skills related to people management, leadership and written/verbal communications
  • Ability to assist/supervise technical personnel and work independently
