About You and This Role
We are looking for an ambitious master’s student (d/f/m) to support our Dow Construction Chemicals business unit by conducting an internship project in biobased additives in cement-based mortars at our location in Bomlitz, Germany. Dow offers great career opportunities in a global and international environment. You will be welcomed by the global competence center at Dow Construction Chemicals, which focuses on additives and binders used as performance ingredients in drymix mortars. The group develops new cellulose ethers, redispersible powders, and latex binders for the construction industry and carries out practical application-oriented research projects involving Dow Construction Chemicals’ global customer base.
Responsibilities
- Develop experimental plans for biopolymer formulations.
- Evaluate the performance of biopolymer formulations in selected construction applications.
- Learn and apply laboratory-scale formulation and performance test methods for cement-based mortars.
- Design experiments (DOE) on new biobased additive compositions and cement-based mortar formulations in close cooperation with your supervisor.
- Plan and conduct your own experiments based on the initial outcomes of DOE lab experiments.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure the success of the project.
Qualifications
- You are currently studying for a master's degree or equivalent in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or related Material Science subjects.
- You have a good working knowledge of English; knowledge of German is a benefit.
- Laboratory skills are a must, ideally obtained from university as well as laboratory assignments in industry or institutional research organizations.

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

- You can start between April and July 2025 for a period of 4 months (exact timing is flexible and to be discussed).
