The Battery-Pack and Advanced Mobility (BAM) team is expanding in Japan as we work to grow and gain business across key markets (electric vehicle, e-mobility, and energy storage systems).
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can find new customers, perform market analysis, create business cases, and grow the battery passive fire protection business in Japanese EV and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Battery markets. As a Business Development Leader, you will contribute to our long-term business growth strategy. The position interacts with Alkegen Global Sales Director, Global Market Growth Leader, Business Planning Manager, Marketing Director, Application Engineers, Customer Service, distributors and end-users customers.
Responsibilities:
- Prospect new business development, customer growth opportunities and market analysis within a defined territory; For electric vehicles, e-mobility, and stationary applications
- Quickly develop understanding of target sector, our technology, the market dynamics and drivers, key players and contacts.
- Develop and execute Marketing and Sales Plan to ensure maximum market penetration and share as technology commercializes
- Negotiate full sales cycle- development and present deal sheets, pricing targets and consistently push customers towards commitment and final sale; Target OEM’s Toyota, Nissan and Honda.
- Responsible for attaining profit, sales, ROCE, and new-product goals for assigned product lines
- Responsible for identifying new product opportunities and implementing new product development/commercialization activities including customer contracts/ commercial agreements
- Develops long-range growth and profit plans for assigned product lines.
- Responsible for training of company and distributor sales personnel in use of assigned product lines.
- Develop appropriate distribution policies as necessary to promote assigned products
- Identify and determine regulatory requirements, opportunity size, competitive products/companies, and Alkegen’s ability to compete in the market segment
- Create and deliver customer educational experiences focused on growth
- Develop near term tactics and long-term strategy aligned with corporate goals
- Understand industry, customer and territory trends related to energy storage systems using lithium-ion or lithum metal battery technologies
- Use available tools and data to determine course of action within territory based on findings
- Inspect and monitor market conditions resulting in the development of strategic counter measures
- Identify customer gaps, concerns and goals that require a total Alkegen solution
- Work closely with other business partners including customer service, sales, application engineering, production, growth leaders, and geographical managers
- Attend and participate at targeted industry trade shows and conferences
- Manage your business using a hybrid model of both travel to see customers and home office
- Plan in-territory travel up to 50% depending on business requirements and ROI
Qualifications:
- University Degree, Engineering Designation both or in combination with experience
- Minimum 5 years in Tier 1 sales, with measurable results supplying major Japanese OEM (Toyota, Nissan, and/ or Handa)
- Possession of sales, technical, and business skills to understand the requirements of the market and perform market analysis
- Exposure to product development, production and delivery
- Selling to and knowledge of Japanese automotive market. Working knowledge of energy storage systems, battery, thermal/ electrical protections, and/or fire protection a plus.
- Must have a demonstrated history of business development, strong negotiation skills along with ability to work within teams, across business units and foster key customer relationships
- Detail orientation in both sales reporting, sales analytics, market analysis, market development, and interpretation at the territory level
- Creative problem solver who brings solutions to the conversation and situation
- Well-developed communication and influencing skills
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience “social” selling, digital promotion, creating presentations and webinars
