This Benefit Leave Analyst provides day-to-day administration and support for all functions within Leave Administration in compliance with state and federal laws along with NREL's leave procedures. In addition, provide education support and communication for employees and managers related to timekeeping via Workday, in partnership with finance/payroll. 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day administration of leave management programs.
  • Updates and maintains Workday system in partnership with HRIS, Payroll and IT.
  • Develops and delivers leave of absence communications.
  • Responds and provides Q&A for employee and manager inquires.
  • Partners with NREL's third party administrator for processing CO-FAMLI. 
  • Assists with preparation, communication for annual open enrollment.
  • Participates in HR, Payroll meetings to meet organization and departmental goals.
  • Attend training sessions, courses, to maintain up-to-date benefit skills.
  • Will assist Benefits Manager with benefit plan data gathering and analysis.
  • Conducting and evaluate data, prepare reports, presentations and provide recommendations.
  • Contributes and assists with health plans, flexible spending accounts, life and disability and voluntary benefits.
  • Supports and participates in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) activities by seeking first to understand through active listening, soliciting feedback, valuing, and incorporating diverse perspectives, into the work and team environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This role will require frequent on-site support at NREL's South Table Mountain Campus in Golden, Colorado. The successful candidate will be required to live locally (relocation benefits available). Hybrid work and flexibility is expected for days when on-site presence is not necessary.

Basic QualificationsRelevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Frequent application of industry concepts and principles. General knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs.

* Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • General knowledge of employment regulations, laws and legislation related to leave administration including state paid family leaves, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable benefits laws.
  • Ability to interpret organizations procedure, compensation guidelines and administrative regulations.
  • Knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment law as it relates to benefits.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write comprehensive and articulate reports on complex topics.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
  • Ability to make effective presentations and to convey information in a clear, understandable manner.
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise reasonable judgment in decision making.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments within established deadlines.
  • Knowledge of standard office software including spreadsheet applications and word processing.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)Job Profile: Professional II / Annual Salary Range: $63,600 - $104,900

NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
