The AVP Technology - Network Core and Data Center Engineering, leads all aspects/activities for defining, delivering, and supporting Cox's core backbone, metro, and data center networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Architecture & Management: Lead the strategic design and lifecycle management of core and data center network infrastructure, focusing on performance, network transformation, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Cross-functional Influence: Drive collaboration and process improvements across Engineering, Product Management, Field Delivery, NOC, Analytics, Security, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless network delivery and operations.
- Operational Integration: Plan and coordinate implementation processes, ensuring that operational requirements and continuous improvements are met throughout network core and data center activities.
- Platform Alignment: Ensure all platforms align with a unified strategy to optimize performance, capacity, customer experience and internet satisfaction.
- Field Collaboration: Work closely with regional field teams to support seamless metro core and edge platform launches and operations.
Strategic & Operational Leadership:
- Strategic Planning: Serve as business owner for core backbone, metro, and data center network. Committed to relentless improvement that will grow the business, expand our customer base, and enhance overall service and internet satisfaction. Define and align core backbone, metro, and data center network short-term and long-term strategies with business objectives, proactively addressing risks and evolving network needs. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure tactical plans that affect network health, business process improvements.
- Organizational Development: Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in network health and service delivery.
- Performance & Efficiency: Establish best practices and leverage financial insights and metrics to drive efficient, high-quality network service and customer satisfaction.
Business & Financial Leadership:
- Financial Acumen: Use economic, financial, and industry insights to shape network strategies that drive growth and enhance service.
- Program Oversight: Manage program health, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timelines, while fostering partnerships with technology teams to deliver cost-effective network solutions.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- 14+ years of relevant experience including successfully leading architecture, engineering, and operations of large-scale IP routing networks and data centers, if candidate possesses a related BS/BA degree; with at least 7 years' experience in a leadership role. In lieu of a degree, incumbent must possess 18 years' directly relevant experience at a minimum.
- The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 12 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 9 years' experience in a related field; or 18 years' experience in a related field.
- Relevant experience in Cable or Telecommunications provider.
- Demonstrated experience with leading and executing large network migrations and transformations.
- Knowledgeable of hyperscale data center technologies and implementations: network fabrics, network security, VPNs, network segmentation, and availability zones.
- Experience in implementing software driven networks: Network as Code, hardware and software disaggregation technologies, automation and orchestration, digital twin, and next generation telemetry.
- Experience with state-of-the-art networking technologies for optical transport, IP Networks, Network Security, and Datacenter Fabrics.
- Must possess a results-based leadership style with influencing skills and effectiveness leading within a remote environment.
- Adept in successfully managing multiple priorities
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting process, as well as strong financial and business acumen.
- Requires an action-oriented strategic thinker who can envision and assess forward-thinking options with impacts, inspire others to action, and connect actions to relevant business objectives and outcomes.
- Communicates professionally, effectively, and persuasively with employees/leaders at all level
- Requires a skilled, collaborative influencer with demonstrated success building effective relationships across levels, functions, boundaries, and networks both internal and external to the company.
- Proven people leadership experience and effectiveness leading within a remote environment.
- Ability to travel required. Up to 25%.
- Will be expected to work from the corporate headquarters in Atlanta.

USD 189,100.00 - 315,100.00
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $189,100.00 - $315,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
