Job Description:

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer, Wealth & Pensions (W&P), Sun Life Hong Kong, and serves as a primary contact for Finance and the Value Realization Office within the W&P business. The ideal candidate will possess strong collaborative skills, enabling effective partnerships with Finance leaders, the Regional Office, and various key stakeholders.

The successful candidate must be passionate and an innovative thinker to lead change and drive results through effective execution with proven ability to build relationships across the company.

Main Accountabilities

Reporting and analysis

  • Management Reporting: develop comprehensive management business reporting packages that include key messages, business highlights, and financial performance;
  • Analytics: conduct in-depth analyses of financial results, focusing on trends and variances such as year-over-year, quarter-over-quarter, actual versus plan;
  • Key Financial Metrics: generate and analyze critical financial metrics (operating margin, value of new business, return on equity) with supporting analytics;
  • Process Optimization: streamline and automate reporting processes by implementing innovative digital solutions;
  • Legal Entity Compliance: responsible for legal entity reporting for various legal entities and also ensuring the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all reporting and regulatory requirements;

Expense management

  • Expense Trends: designs and improves the expense analysis on trends and results, drafting commentary which enables readers to quickly understand the financial results and drivers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: effectively collaborate with stakeholders in Finance and across the W&P business and build key relationships to understand financial and business drivers and impacts.
  • Expense optimization: drive recommendation for changes to improve and meet expense KPI’s, drive initiatives on expense reduction.
  • Expense study: drive efficient expense studies across all business functions as part of the business planning process to ensure tracking and analysis of expenses.
  • Budget ownership: own expense budget process for Strategic and business plan

VRO

  • Initiative portfolio management: own a portfolio of prioritized initiatives that are directly and quantifiably aligned to overall W&P strategic ambitions and targets, in partnership with the W&P leadership team.
  • Project Portfolio Health: Oversee project portfolio management practices, providing insights into execution and value realization, and acting as a trusted advisor to leadership.

Education and Experience:

  • Qualifications: CPA designation with 10+ years of experience in performance, business reporting, and financial analysis, including at least 5 years in expense management and financial leadership roles.
  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive experience in expense reporting and financial analysis within the asset management or financial services sectors.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
  • Technological Proficiency: Leverage technology to develop solutions that enhance programs and practices; utilize analytical skills to convert data into actionable insights.
  • Collaboration and Project Management: Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple concurrent tasks with attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and self-motivated, thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment with a proactive "can-do" attitude.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SAP GL, Hyperion, and SmartView is a significant asset.
  • Project Management Experience: Strong preference for candidates with project management expertise.
