Position Summary:

The Associate Scientist has a responsibility to conduct all work in compliance with appropriate company standards, GLP, GCP, GMP (where appropriate) and regulatory guidelines specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved.

They evaluate and develop new approaches, ideas and concepts for existing tasks and to improve or replace existing procedures. They consistently and continuously respond efficiently to requests (delivers high quality output on time) and builds positive relationships with both internal/external clients. They remain up to date in area of knowledge and continuously improve technical and interpersonal skills. They improve team performance through realistic planning and open constructive feedback.

  • Uses experience to apply creative problem solving to challenging issues

  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of current practices and contributes ideas for solutions to prevent errors and improve efficiencies

  • Ability to recognize deviations from normal results and inform Study Director, Study Coordinator and/or management of any problems that may affect integrity of the data

  • Ability to recommend modifications to routine procedures to adapt to problems in primary area

  • Ability to understand the scope of a study (primary area of work) and be able to complete with no supervision

  • Ability to utilize word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and specialized software on personal computers

  • Skilled in the use of all standard laboratory equipment

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and performs a variety of analyses using appropriate instrumentation with routine and non-routine methods

  • Critically review study protocol in primary area of work and suggest changes where appropriate.

  • Provides input and participates in study meetings (i.e. pre-initiation meeting).

  • Maintains study documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

  • Reviews own work for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment.

  • Deliver results within agreed timeframe, whilst recognizing changes in priorities

  • Routinely support studies in non-primary area of work

  • Write, review and revise standard SOPs related to primary area of work.

  • Conduct most processes/task in support of broad portfolio of study types

  • Proficient in use of department specific software

  • Participate in QC review of selected routine data and methodology section within reports within scope of current role

  • Prepare results and presentations based on the work performed

  • Evaluates data for experiment modification and contribute to report preparation/review

  • Participate in method development and validation projects

  • Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment and perform routine maintenance.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science is required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience desired.
