Associate Manager
What the Candidate Will Do
The Associate Manager manages a team while designing, executing, and reporting on standard work processes to maintain transportation solutions for accuracy and efficiency. This Associate Manager is a working manager, with approximately 30% production work and 70% management. The team is responsible for the on-time delivery of customer freight while controlling costs and providing excellent internal customer communication; he/she is expected to participate in and/or lead carrier negotiations. The ideal candidate can use statistical data to drive operational excellence and efficiency and root cause analysis tools to improve business processes and exceed customer expectations.
Essential Functions And Tasks
Supervise day-to-day activities of team members
Manage staff and distribute the workload.
Ensure team members meet daily goals and monitor individual and team performance.
Develop and distribute carrier and internal performance management reports.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective processes
Proactively generate and share ideas that improve process efficiency and customer experience. Develop strong relationships with carriers and across Uber’s organization. Ensure carrier performance and implement corrective actions if needed.
Participate and/or lead carrier negotiations.
Develop team members by providing training opportunities, projects, mentoring, and coaching.
Create and maintain strong team culture aligned with Uber Freight’s values and behaviors.
Basic Qualifications
• Proficient English communication skills - written and verbal.
• 3 years of logistics experience with an increasing level of responsibility.
• Problem Solving
• Time management (self and others)
• Strong Negotiation skills
• Intermediate – advanced excel
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to anticipate and resolve problems using root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little to no supervision.
• Excellent people skills, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in the Freight Industry.
• Forward thinking. Ability to envision and implement new concepts/strategies.
• Service Orientation (Commits to and enjoys exceptional service to internal and external customers).
• Strong sense of urgency and capable of working under pressure.
• BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
The ability to work in a team environment.
