Job Description
Associate Director, Global Business Operations Leader, London Stockley Park (UK)
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to join the Global Decision Sciences & Insights (GDSI) team to help drive our transformation towards a data-driven decision-making organization. This position will be based in our Stockley Park regional headquarters in Uxbridge (UK) and will be reporting to the Senior Director leading the overall group.
This exciting role will bring our global commercial data assets to life through oversight and ownership of our data processes, ensuring our data is effectively onboarded onto the new cloud platform and stitched with other data ready to be consumed (to empower our colleagues through automated reporting and field execution tools as well as ad-hoc and advanced analytics). This includes management and ownership of our ICF (International Cloud Foundation) global data lake, owning the Data Products and several key dashboards built on ICF.
Success in this role will require collaboration and effective stakeholder management across global affiliates, IT, GDSI, and CommOps.
The desired candidate would have previous experience in data platform operations, data product development, and platform governance.
Summary of Role and Requirements
Main areas of work:
- Business owner for ICF to drive operations, governance, and any enhancements such as new data onboarding, and new KPIs in BRE (business rules engine) and Supernova (data Upload tool)
- Business owner for ATLAS data products, which are stitched and curated data on ICF.
- Business owner to drive governance across data products and ICF for all affiliates (EU5, Canada, Japan, Australia)
- Business owner to develop and drive the enterprise data catalogue, working with IT and GDSI.
- Ensuring relevant data is effectively onboarded onto the new cloud platform and stitched with other data ready to be consumed and automated
- Understanding of reporting needs (not including Compass executive dashboard, Omnichannel and Leapfrog dashboards) and developing / enhancing those reports as needed
- Ensuring field reports owned by ICF team continue to serve as single source of truth in live affiliates
Other Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with country colleagues, holding routine and ad-hoc meetings and offering support and timely communication as necessary to align and meet mutual business needs
- Articulate standard data ingestion possibilities and make a tradeoff between standard and custom needs
- Support development of the cloud foundation for ingesting data and creating an analytics ready environment across data sources
- Define, prioritize, manage and implement relevant use cases for ICF enhancements or enablement via ICF
- Partner with IT on data ingestion, enhancements and data mart enablement
- Continually looks for ways to improve processes, promotes new technologies where appropriate, works towards vision of a single global approach and efficiency/automation wherever possible
- Helps support timely and effective flow of data and KPIs throughout the organization with least data latency
- Oversees a set of quality-checks to provide necessary assurance
- Effectively leverages supports from other team members, IT and external vendors as necessary
- Partners with other members of GDSI and Global Com Ops teams, across different time zones
- May pick up other projects and tasks with a broader remit as member of GDSI team
Partnerships:
- Serve as the internal expert for ex-US data, collaborating with Marketing Sciences as the data partner to deliver actional insights to the business and supporting Data Science teams on impactful use of the data
- Partner with affiliates and IT to drive platforms and reporting
- Organize knowledge sharing sessions to empower our colleagues regarding available data, usage & value
- Operate with Enterprise mindset, with a strong focus on outcome
Ensure Data Quality, Privacy and Protection:
- Partner with legal and compliance to account for and uphold diverse privacy and compliance requirements across geographies.
- Operationalize technology and process-based protections for data integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance, including assurances for analysis validity
- Be abreast of the changing regulations relating to Pharma Commercial Data and ensure compliance with the regulations – from the systems and data consumption perspective
Essential Competencies

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Relevant experience of sales/marketing data & analytics in pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Good knowledge of Sales and Marketing organizations and key pharmaceutical data sources eg IQVIA.
- Knowledge and experience of evaluating and working with US data (e.g. claims) as well as ex-US data.
- Experience or knowledge of technology led business strategy transformation and reporting & BI platforms.
- Automation mindset with track record of operationalizing processes with QA embedded.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, cross-functional partnership and ability to influence stakeholders and support a mindset shift towards democratized data and harmonized reporting/KPIs, ideally proven through experience in a multi-layered global environment.
- Ability to assume full responsibility for accuracy and reliability of complex analyses and processes.
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with an ability to understand the 'big picture'.
- Highly numerate with proven data analysis and interpretation skills, and ability to meaningfully portray quantitative data in graphical form.
- Good communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing. Able to communicate clearly in a manner that gets messages across to colleagues. Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical members of senior management.
- Project management skills such as planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management and plan execution is required. Experience in Agile methodology and execution and design thinking.
- Self-starter, able to learn quickly and multi-task to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities.
- High level of resourcefulness and problem solving skills under pressure are critical.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and strong skills using other MS software (Word & PowerPoint, etc.) required. Experience in BI software (eg Tableau) or advanced analytics advantageous.
- Availability to travel internationally as required.
