Summary:
Create, socialize, deploy, and refine corporate learning strategy aligned to the NMYOU University model to further build the School of Business, School of Professional Development, and School of Leadership, levering internal resources (SMEs, Learning Institute, curriculum, etc.) to elevate career development for employees. Drive the planning and execution of high-quality, high-impact learning experiences or solutions for home office employees which drive business outcomes and employee growth. May lead others.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
This role is a "strategic doer" who contributes to a Talent Development team that designs, develops, and delivers world-class learning solutions and experiences in an engaging and effective manner. With a bias for quality and learner experience, this role has strong consultative and stakeholder management skills, can juggle multiple and/or large enterprise reaching projects, and is highly organized and self-driven. This role manages key relationships, utilizes training systems/resources, and applies adult learning methodology to consult and execute relevant learning and performance solutions. As both a big-picture thinker also skilled in doing the needed work to get an end result, this role serves as a strategic activation and sustainment lead for enterprise core development solutions and may support functional projects as needed.

  • Further define the assigned NMYOU strategy (example, NMYOU School of Business, School of Professional Development, School of Leadership) leveraging strong business acumen and key relationships to build and deliver best-in-class learning experiences using innovative approaches and state-of-the-art learning institute facilities
  • Guide and consult subject-matter experts to effectively deliver high-impact and quality learning experiences; leverage internal expertise to drive meaningful employee connection and exposure to new ways of learning from each other
  • Connect and consult in cross-role and cross-functional relationships, senior learning roles and business stakeholders, translating L&D-specific terms to business relevant language, connecting learning solutions to business strategy and needs, and gaining insight into both standards and innovation
  • Research existing solutions and/or synthesize learning activity happening at the function or department level to deliver scaled, all-employee relevant learning solutions or experiences
  • Advocate for and prioritize learning solutions which can be rapidly developed and deployed, while still maintaining quality standards, learner experience, and deliver business outcomes; scrutinize existing solutions to ensure learning addresses evolving needs. Provide guidance to supporting team members.
  • Develop effective learning experience strategies that focus on different or innovative ways to deliver and deploy learning to ensure completion of goals and business objectives.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree. Preferred in instructional design, adult education, organizational development, corporate communications/marketing/event planning, or related field.
  • 8 years' experience leading large, enterprise-facing experiences or resources with demonstrated impact to the business
  • Experience working with and influencing in a matrixed environment; strong business acumen
  • Superb time management skills and ability to drive multiple projects towards completion
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in building and executing a strategy for business acumen related components of a corporate curriculum ideal
  • Prior experience in a Talent Management or Learning & Development Center of Excellence ideal; Prior experience in corporate training, learning strategy, communications, event planning, or marketing beneficial
  • Skills: adult learning theory, leadership development, strategy building and execution, influence, project management, managing multiple priorities and workstreams, creativity, navigating ambiguity, consultative mindset and approach, innovative thinking, continuous improvement, vendor management

Pay Range - Start:
$84,350.00
Pay Range - End:
$156,650.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
