ChampionX is seeking to hire an Application Specialist/Field Engineer in our Chemicals Technologies division. In this position you will be working for our customer field based in Oman. Due to the job specifications, we are looking to hire Omani nationals for this role.

What You Will Do:

  • Follow safety policies to provide a safe workplace for all employees and supports the guiding principles of Goal Zero to continually improve the plant’s safety, health and environmental performance, security, design, development, manufacture, storage, marketing, distribution, use and ultimate safe disposal of chemical products. Drive culture of safety; report safety observations / incidents

  • Supports and is committed to the Quality Improvement Process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work by “doing it right the first time” and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties, in our drive continuous improvement.

  • Support the chemical treating program by performing and/or assisting Company personnel. Perform sampling, analyses, and testing of water process streams and their conditions and quality.

  • Maintain bulk chemical inventories at injection skids/locations.

  • Maintain chemical dosing rates.

  • Supervise installation/removal/change of chemical injection sites.

  • Prepare and distribute regularly scheduled reporting and other reports as requested.

  • Update and maintain the chemical program database.

  • Participate in Company meetings as requested.

  • Comply with and maintain safety programs.

  • Implementation of the Field Surveillance Schedule including,

  • Collection of produced oil, water and gas samples from different locations and performing the required analysis e.g., pH, Iron, Manganese, Chloride, Residual Scale and Residual Corrosion Inhibitor, Oxygen and Residual Bi- Sulfate.

  • Supplied and Injected Chemical Inventory Management including Demulsifier, Corrosion Inhibitor, Scale Inhibitor, Oxygen Scavenger & H2S scavenger that deal with water injection, field plant process, well heads and export lines and

  • Working closely with client Process Chemists and Mechanical

  • Monitor chemical consumption and application effectiveness to ensure that all chemical pumps /injection skids are injecting as per target to deliver an optimized and cost-effective chemical treatment strategy.

  • Chemical Injection System Surveys & Optimization which include,

  • Advising the client to identify chemical injection points to optimize production and/or prevent failure.

  • Planning and implementation of any bottle test / chemical Field trials.

  • Deliver monthly report which include: consumption of chemicals against production data & KPI’s, Supply Chain and Logistical requirements and any Phase Separation issues.

  • Front Line maintenance of chemical injection hardware and management of major repairs via the clients Work Order and Maintenance systems and

  • Direct Supervision to chemical filling crew during top-up, draining, flushing and cleaning of the chemical tanks.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • 4-year technical degree in chemistry or equivalent

  • 5 years’ experience in oil/water production sampling and troubleshooting.

  • Good technical writing skills, competent computer skills.

  • Must be licensed to drive the assigned vehicle in the field and driving of commercial vehicles for expatriate Contractor Personnel which is subject to Royal Oman Police approval.

  • Comply with and maintain safety programs.

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment and to exercise an appropriate combination of cultural sensitivity, approachability, resolve and diplomacy in order to work effectively within multicultural environment.
