The Analytics Analyst III is a highly visible analytical role working directly with leaders in the analytics team. The incumbent will possess deep data and analytical skills, especially with healthcare data. This role focuses on building best in class analytics products which are conceptually sound and highly informative to improve member quality and affordability. As a subject matter expert, this role would collaborate with multiple stakeholders like Quality, Behavioral Health, Government programs, Value Based etc. to translate business requirements into actionable insights in an efficient manner using the latest tech stack. The candidate would have experience and embrace data tools like cloud (snowflake, AWS etc., sql, git, dbt etc. The candidate must have experience working with healthcare data including claims, enrollment, quality and such.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the analytic lead for complex analytics projects involving multiple data resources and teams to inform business decisions.
  • Review business requirements and define analytics plan for the task and work with different teams to produce accurate analysis while ensuring efficient processes are in place.
    • Research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of healthcare cost and quality data.  Manage all aspects of data preparation, analysis, and interpretation in order to meet customer deliverable.  Translates highly complex concepts and conclusions in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences.
    • Create effective reports from varies data sources which are highly impactful and are automated to produce actionable insights accurately using tools like SQL, Tableau, Power BI, dbt.
    • Recommends to leadership advanced analytic models and/or research that financially impact pricing, cost containment, quality, marketing and risk management functions.
    • Develops large, complex advanced analytic models and performs data mining functions to identify trends in the data and/or opportunities for improved outcomes, as appropriate.
    • Provides consultation, complex performance analysis, and coaching expertise to team member around methods of continuous quality improvement.
    • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement that includes the use of performance data to understand health care cost and utilization trends, clinical and condition management analysis, health care cost containment, data quality measurement, and predictive modeling.

Additional Job Description

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience using statistical concepts and tools.
  • Ability to create, develop/validate models independently.
  • Demonstrates advanced statistical capabilities, data mining, forecasting and predictive modeling skills, and/or actuarial techniques.
  • Demonstrated skills in quality principles especially root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Extensive experience in analytic tools like sql, snowflake, aws, python, r, Power BI, Tableau required. Experience in dbt preferred.

Horizon BCBSNJ employees must live in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware

Salary Range:

$108,000 - $147,420

​This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.  This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
