As Service Express has been growing, so have our teams to support our expansion! As such, we are looking for an Accounting Manager to ensure the financial wellness of the company through supervision of the accounting team, preparation of reports for business leaders, and developing standards and processes for proper financial management. This role will also be responsible for creating and maintaining a strong internal controls environment.
Here’s what this position is all about:
Accounting Operations
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including payables, receivables, general ledger, and payroll
- Lead close processes, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded
- Reconcile complex accounts and handle discrepancies promptly
- Prepare and remit monthly sales and use tax returns
- Support all tax initiatives including property tax, sales tax certificate maintenance, filing state sales and use tax, record purchase tax of goods analysis
- Monitor accrued compensation in partnership with Financial Planning & Analysis and HR by managing payroll expenses, reconciliation of accrued compensation and commissions
- Monitor cash accounts by reconciliation, recording deposits, completing balance projections, tracking activity, record keeping associated with the 401(k)
Financial Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reporting including bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts, monthly/quarterly/annual reports for leaders, errors/corrections, expense reports, investor financials and more as needed
- Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising the company’s financial strategy
- Monitor and ensure compliance with GAAP or IFRS
- Monitor and analyze financial accounting data as needed
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper financial controls
- Ensure compliance around taxes, reconciling maintenance, returns, system generated reporting errors, registration of new locations, and personal property tax returns
- Collaborate with external auditors and manage audit activities to ensure compliance with financial regulations
- Ensure adherence to tax and regulatory requirements
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist the finance team with the annual budgeting process, including variance analysis and forecasting
- Provide insights into financial performance and suggest cost-saving initiatives where applicable
Process Improvement
- Continuous group improvement mindset through process improvement, documentation creation, cross-training with other team members to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting and financial reporting functions
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new accounting standards, and financial software developments
Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance on tasks and career development
- Foster a positive working environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration
Here’s what we are hoping you can bring to the Service Express team:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA license preferred
- Proven experience successfully leading, coaching and developing individuals
- Effective communication and follow through, strong organizational skills, and a dedication to providing high-touch customer service
