SUMMARY:
As a part of Corporate Accounting, this position supports External Financial Reporting and Benefits Accounting. External Financial Reporting tasks include, but are not limited to, preparing and tying out support for SEC Forms 10-K and 10-Q, ad-hoc SEC filings such as Forms 8-K, S-3, S-4, quarterly earnings releases and ad hoc requests from other Corporate Accounting departments as needed. Other tasks include preparing quarterly internal executive financial reporting packages, sections of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee reports and ad hoc requests from other Finance & Accounting departments as needed.
Benefits Accounting tasks include assisting with accounting for company benefits such as stock-based compensation, medical, self-insurance reserves, deferred compensation, and pension/OPEB accounting. The position also assists in preparing financial statements for our 401K plan. In addition, this position assists in ensuring appropriate accounting for self-insurance reserves and stockholders' equity, as well as performing treasury stock reconciliations, average shares outstanding and EPS calculations. Specific responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, preparing budget projections, and ad hoc analysis related to the general responsibilities. Background in understanding and addressing SOX 404 risks as well as executing and documenting control execution are also important to the role.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this job. (Accounting or Finance degree preferred.)
Experience: 1+ years of work experience preferred.
Computer skills: Working knowledge of SAP and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
Special Skills: Certified Public Accountant, or eligible to sit for CPA exam, preferred, but not required. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting processes is expected. Experience in benefits accounting, stock compensation, medical plans and financial reporting preferred. Candidate should also possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
