Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: This job can be performed primarily remote, with the need to be onsite on occasion as needed.
What you will do:
Performs a variety of general accounting related functions for Children's Hospital and Health System entities in the areas of general ledger maintenance, detailed account analysis and financial statement preparation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
• Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision.
• Performs various accounting functions pursuant to the month-end general ledger close including preparation, editing and posting of journal entries, preparation of monthly operations report, monthly general ledger account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepares accurate and timely reports, including month-end financial statements to include statements of revenue and expense, balance sheets, cash flow and net assets. Also prepares individual operating statements and management reports (provider statements, RVU reports, volume reports, etc.). This includes preparation of the comments/explanation of the monthly financial statements based on an analysis of expense and revenue variances, and preparation of other supplement reports unique to the organization.
• Performs detailed review and analysis of specified balance sheet and income statement accounts including cash and investments, prepaid expenses, accounts payable and various accruals and fund balance accounts.
• Working directly with Manager and Directors, assists with preparation of the annual budget for assigned groups. Includes production of physician and site budget reports and budget meetings with leaders and physicians, as needed and where applicable.
• Prepares 990 schedules and support.
• Assists when necessary with preparation of work papers and schedules for annual audits and other internal and external reporting requirements
• Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
• Serves as a financial resource for assigned entities providing financial analyses and other information as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will need:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Five years of progressively responsible work experience with a minimum of three years direct accounting experience.
• Healthcare accounting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of EXCEL applications in a windows environment and computerized financial reports.
• Analytical ability to find solutions to accounting problems.
• Excellent organizational skills and a high level of accuracy to independently prioritize and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
• Good interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with coworkers in the finance department, internal customers, and external funding agencies.
• Ability to detect errors and maintain the highest level of confidentiality when collecting and reporting data.
• CPA preferred
