Job Description

Use your strengths as an Account Manager - Large Group!
As an Account Manager - Large Group, you will retain profitable health business, cross-sell products, and manage key relationships with customers, consultants for the purpose of selling/retaining health and specialty benefits business. Your effective consultation will enhance the understanding of benefits, in addition to identifying the need for potential changes to existing coverage and/or opportunities for cross-selling specialty benefits products or financial services. In addition, you’ll formulate and implement a broad business plan for account and consultant management, which incorporates customer-specific considerations and aligns with corporate or product strategies and initiatives.

Job Level: This role can be filled at an Account Manager, Senior Account Manager, or Senior Executive Account Manager level depending on work experience, skills, and demonstrated ability. Please apply if you have the minimum experience required below or if you have much more experience!
Qualifications
Required:
Account Manager level
- Bachelor’s Degree or direct and applicable work experience.
- 1+ year of experience in sales, account management, or related role with increasing levels of accountability–e.g., assigned to key accounts, clients, or lines of business. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key decision makers, including senior leadership.
- Consultative selling skills with the ability to persuade and influence others to take action while ensuring satisfaction, account retention and/or growth for a diverse block of business.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate information relevant to products, services, or renewals through consultation and/or presentations customized to audiences’ needs.
- Effective critical thinking, strategic planning, time management, prioritization, and documentation skills. Ability to utilize appropriate resources to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and measure impact.
- Valid Driver’s License with moderate travel (20-30%)
- Life & Health insurance license or ability to successfully obtain the license within 60 days of hire.
Senior Account Manager level
- 4+ years of related experience: In sales, account management, or related area with increasing levels of accountability – e.g. assigned to key accounts, clients, or lines of business.
- 1+ year of health insurance industry or related experience with general knowledge of products, services, funding arrangements, underwriting methodologies, etc.
Executive Account Manager level
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 4+ years of related work experience: Sales, Account Management, or related role. Prior management of complex segments or plan designs with increasing levels of accountability – e.g. assigned to key/major accounts or lines of business.
Senior Executive Account Manager level
- Minimum 7+ years of related work experience:
- Sales, Account Management, or related role. Prior management of a complex block of business or plan designs with increasing levels of accountability (e.g., assigned to key/major accounts or lines of business) and demonstrated experience influencing senior decision makers/executives.
- Health insurance or health care experience. Strong knowledge of products, services, Self-Funded arrangements, underwriting methodologies, applicable regulations, etc. Knowledge of pharmacy benefits is a strong preference.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Health insurance industry or related experience with knowledge of products, services, funding arrangements, underwriting methodologies, etc.
- Knowledge of applicable industry rules or regulations.
Additional Information
a. Responsible for the profitable retention of health customers and ancillary cross selling, through positive business relationships with customers, agents and consultants. Build and maintain relationships and positive business partnerships with each assigned customer through effective communication, service and consultation.
b. Develop and enhance the customer experience. Be a thoughtful consultant and strategic business partner for customers. Through regular/in-person customer interactions and by leading renewal activities, enhance their Wellmark experience by emphasizing our value proposition. Incorporate this information when formulating and executing customer specific business plans focused on customer needs and appropriate consultative activities to support renewal and retention of business.
c. Consult and conduct needs analysis to identify coverage alternatives which may be better suited to the customer’s changing needs, information or educational needs of the customer, as well as opportunities to layer additional benefits through ancillary cross selling efforts. Display effective presentation skills when presenting proposals, recommendations and education to customers.
d. Support the internal account service team whom they partner with to service accounts and delegates work appropriately to ensure customer needs are effectively met.
e. Document and analyze account information and activities in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system in a timely manner and complete other reports as required by leader. Share key information with leadership and other internal stakeholders regarding their book of business.
f. Analyze data in order to address customer issues and provide a timely, accurate and appropriately detailed explanation to the customer. Gather and communicate competitor intelligence and convey to sales and marketing stakeholders.
g. Other duties as assigned.Life and Health Insurance license required within 60 days of hire.
