Mr. Cooper's summer internship program offers college students the chance to discover what it's like to work at a leading financial services organization. Our interns deliver innovative solutions to real business challenges and build enduring relationships with their manager and an assigned mentor. Our summer internship program begins in June 2025 and ends in August 2025.
The Originations Analytics Intern will gain hands-on experience in end-to-end data gathering and analysis using the latest technologies including Python, PowerBI and statistical packages within Microsoft Excel and learn more about process cost analysis and activity-based costing techniques.
Roles and Responsibilities

Analyze the variations in time spent on various loan fulfilment processes based on loan products
-
Perform correlation and causation studies to identify the different factors that lead to costly processes and help identify opportunity areas .

Help the product team to create an activity-based process model that can be used for more accurate cost allocation and resourcing decisions.

Help create operational reports and insights that will be used by operational leads for their day to day decision making.
Basic Qualifications
-
Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university or have graduated within one year of start date (June 2025)

Majoring in data science or a related analytics field preferred.

Strong foundations in data collection, analysis and visualization techniques.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Familiarity with process mapping / value tree mapping and one or more common process mapping tools like Lucid Charts / Blueworks / MS Visio etc. is required.

Candidates must have authorization to work permanently in the US without the need for sponsorship (Currently, our organization is unable to support candidates that are on OPT, CPT or candidates that will need sponsorship, now or in the future).
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in a team setting

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Presentation skills using MS PowerPoint is highly preferred

Proficient with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
