Due to an internal promotion, we have an awesome opportunity for a Yard Assistant to join our Gisborne team. This is a varied role where you’ll be hands-on and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the yard including yard maintenance and operating the loaders and forklifts.
In addition to the above you will:

Operate Loaders and Forklifts including unloading all deliveries to the yard

Maintain cleanliness of the yard throughout the day sweeping and tidying up any mess, spills, hazards etc

Maintain yard maintenance program including any ad hoc repairs to ensure the yard in safe and secure, this includes fence repairs, painting, cleaning, gardening etc

Manage all waste and paper waste removal and disposal, ensuring compliance with company sustainability policies and practices

We’re looking for someone with:

Current Class 1 full licence
-
Forklift licence and W endorsement is essential
-
Experience with general yard maintenance and knowledge of how to clean machinery is advantageous

Experienced in general handy person repairs
-
Self-motivated, can-do attitude and a team player
-
Physically fit and able to perform physically demanding tasks

Good understanding of site safety and hazard management
-
Flexibility to perform various daily tasks and grow with the team

Excellent communication with co-workers and management
