About the role:

Gartner’s Digital Products Technology team delivers actionable, objective insights to its clients every day, and we’re seeking a seasoned, forward-thinking senior project management professional to lead the implementation of our next-generation approach to Digital Personalization that supports our Product and Platform Engineering Teams, ultimately helping the Customers Experience. This role is a senior executive role responsible for leading the overall strategy, management, reporting and efficiency of folks who work on building the digital product experiences for the company. This role contributes very meaningfully to and enables one of our Mission Critical Priorities (MCP) of building a strong software engineering foundation as well as Continue strong execution of our best practices.

What you'll do:

The VP, Product Ops Engineering will lead a team of about 30 program/scrum managers worldwide, who partner with our Product, Platform and Engineering teams to deliver Gartner research directly to our C-level clients on Gartner.com and other Digital products. This leader will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and monitoring of large-scale programs within an organization, leading a team of program managers, ensuring alignment with business objectives, managing program risks and dependencies, and reporting on program performance to senior leadership; Further, the Product Ops team is responsible as the Tier 2 team responsible for addressing Tickets/Requests that get submitted by our internal or external users, acting as the primary decision-maker for all program-related activities across the Digital Product Portfolio.

You will lead the Operations of our Digital Products portfolio in a dynamic, growth and changing environment. You will be responsible for growing an already modern technology function into one of the best in the world. The keys to success for this individual are:
 

  • People Management: The ability to build and retain a team of extra ordinary program/scrum managers who have a deeply customer centric DNA
  • Program/Project Management: The ability to manage projects/programs from inception to closure with skills in building business cases, regular and consistent project management and reporting while ensuring that the project meets its objectives
  • Data, Reporting and Analytics: The ability to capture, organize and make available, data signals that can then be leveraged to build a consistent and optimized operating model for our teams while making the team members more efficient and project/program decisions easier
  • Strategic Thinking & Organization: The ability to operate the product ops organization such that it can organically scale with acquisition, retention and growth in the future; The ability to deeply understand the operational nuances of our various product teams and create an operating model that strategically leads to more efficient teams and better business outcomes
  • Collaboration: The ability to work seamlessly between the product and engineering functions to drive alignment on the one hand around customer goals and on the other hand with the product goals, while using the data available to this leader to create an optimized operating model that is geared towards consistency and efficiency of operations

What you'll need:

  • You’ll have had at least 15 years of total technology experience with at least 7 years experience with Agile/Scrum or Program management as an engineering leader for a geographically distributed team
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
  • Skilled in Managing and mentoring a team of program managers, assigning responsibilities, and fostering collaboration across different projects within the program
  • Someone with risk modeling and financial/budget management experience
  • Someone who has managed vendors and vendor relationships in the past
  • Ability to define program goals, objectives, and scope, aligning programs with overall business strategy, and developing comprehensive program plans
  • Substantial experience with modern reporting technologies such as PowerBI, Looker etc. Must have used these tools in the past for reporting and analysis leading to insights that help shape teams for most efficient operations; Regular reporting on program performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and providing insights to senior management
  • A record of success with Agile Scrum and Waterfall methodologies having worked hands on as a Scrum Master or Coach
  • A track record of success in mentorship and leadership-by-example will be a key qualification
  • Ideally, you have worked in a publishing and internet facing digital product portfolio and understand the key pain points of the business model as well as solutions to these key pain points
  • You would further need to have used your experience to aid and assist your decision making as well as created an operating model that leads to consistency at scale
  • Expert level understanding and knowledge of Jira; Strong power-point skills
  • Executive Presence and experience in presenting to executive leadership
  • Experience in driving change within an organization from the ground up
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage cross-functional teams and interactions with cross-functional leadership

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 158,000 USD - 221,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
