Our purpose is simple, create moments that matter between people and the brands they cherish. With our integration solutions, we deliver a full international checkout experience, inclusive of local duties, taxes, fulfillment, and delivery management, along with global returns and payment processing capabilities. 

Our hub locations are Dublin, Madrid and New York, and we are currently expanding our development hub in Madrid. As part of this initiative, we are looking for a Technology leader to grow out and build a technical centre of excellence in Madrid, consisting of 250+ professionals. 

This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact as part of our global tech leadership team, reporting to the CTO, and leading the Spanish head office. The role will drive technology vision and strategy during a key period of organizational change and growth. 

This role demands strong technical expertise, exceptional leadership, and experience managing large tech teams. The candidate must drive change, foster a high-performance culture, and align initiatives with organizational goals. They will collaborate with stakeholders to build a thriving ESW Spain culture reflecting the company’s values and mission. 

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and execute the technology strategy in alignment with corporate goals, ensuring scalability, innovation, and operational excellence. 
  • Act as a change leader to support seamless integration of technology systems across teams. 
  • Independent thinker who can challenge, propose innovative solutions, and implement business and technology initiatives. 

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 200+ professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. 
  • Partner with the People team to implement frameworks for team development, succession planning, and skill enhancement to align the team's growth with organizational needs. 

Technology Oversight:

  • End-to-End technical leader who brings considerable experience designing and implementing e-commerce solutions using a broad range of technologies. 
  • Play a critical role in the technological development of our platform bringing our ambitious product roadmap to life on time and on budget. 
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to shape the future of the platform, focusing on scalability, performance, and customer experience. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of e-commerce innovation. 

Cultural Integration and change management:

  • Spearhead initiatives to integrate local corporate culture, ensuring alignment with the company's mission, vision, and values. 
  • Build trust and cohesion within teams, promoting clear communication and shared objectives. 
  • Drive alignment during transitions by working closely with leadership, and key stakeholders. 
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a key liaison with cross-functional teams (including the People team and other local support functions) to ensure alignment and success across all operational areas. 

Requirements

Education:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly desirable. 

Experience: 

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology roles. 
  • Proven track record managing large teams. 
  • Significant experience in post-acquisition integration, including cultural and technological harmonization.
  • Expertise in leading organizations through periods of transformation and change. 

Technical Acumen:

  • Strong understanding of modern technology landscapes, with experience in areas such as cloud computing, software development, or IT infrastructure. 

Leadership Attributes: 

  • Exceptional people management skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate and unite teams. 
  • Exceptional influencing skills approachable, and able to establish credibility at all levels of the organization. 
  • Strong decision-making abilities with a balance of empathy and strategic focus. 
  • Highly autonomous, self-driven, and able to independently manage complex projects and initiatives. 
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster relationships with diverse stakeholders. 

Location: Madrid (flexibility for occasional travel is required).
