The VP of Data and Content Engineering will lead Flexera’s data strategy and content management initiatives, driving innovation, excellence, and alignment with the overall company vision. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this role will build and scale a robust data infrastructure, optimize content delivery, and ensure that data capabilities are strategically aligned with Flexera’s long-term business goals. The ideal candidate will bring a customer-focused approach to data engineering and a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly in product management, to enhance the company’s platform offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data and content strategy, aligning with the company's overall strategic goals and the vision of the Flexera One Platform.
  • Drive innovative solutions, enabling capabilities to enhance speed to innovation for our data and reference content strategy,
  • Define data models and semantic models for our wide range of data sets to provide insights and optimized user experiences.
  • Provide guidance, influence and help engineering teams to deliver deep insights from our large and broad data sets.
  • Promote a high-standard engineering culture and operational excellence within the team.
  • Balance priorities between new feature development, architectural enhancements, and technical debt reduction for a sustainable and scalable platform.
  • Collaborate closely with product management to ensure data and content engineering efforts enhance Flexera Technopedia and the broader Technology Intelligence Platform, driving customer value and market differentiation.
  • Stay informed on technology trends, AI/ML developments, and industry advancements to continually refine the data and content strategy.
  • Work closely with product, design, marketing, and sales teams to drive alignment on key initiatives and ensure successful execution of data-driven enhancements and content solutions.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering and product management, incorporating customer feedback and product insights into actionable technical strategies.
  • Partner with marketing and sales teams to support go-to-market strategies, including pricing, positioning, and messaging for data and content-related products.
  • Conduct market analysis and gather customer insights to identify evolving user needs and inform data and content engineering strategies.
  • Translate customer feedback into technical requirements, ensuring Flexera’s data and content solutions address key market challenges and provide clear value to users.
  • Establish data governance practices that ensure high standards of data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of scalable data platforms and content management systems, prioritizing performance, fault tolerance, and high availability.
  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in data processing, cloud integration, and content management.
  • Oversee the development of scalable and secure data infrastructure, ensuring the platform can support Flexera’s growing user base and complex data needs.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data engineers, data scientists, and content strategists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Implement best practices for agile development and resource allocation to optimize the team’s effectiveness and adaptability.
  • Champion a culture of excellence and accountability within the data and content engineering teams, promoting skill development and career growth opportunities.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of data and content engineering initiatives, focusing on data quality, system uptime, and user satisfaction.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to continuously optimize data and content delivery processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage the data and content engineering budget, allocating resources effectively to meet both short-term objectives and long-term strategic goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years in data engineering, content management, or a related technical field, with at least 8 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading large, global engineering teams in a high-growth B2B environment, ideally within SaaS, data platform, or technology-driven industries.
  • Experience with data lake and data warehouse technologies, cloud-based data platforms, and advanced analytics (AI/ML).
  • Strong technical expertise in data architecture, data modeling, content management systems, and scalable data solutions.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data insights into strategic actions that drive product and business outcomes.
  • Strategic thinker with a customer-focused approach to problem-solving and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies, data governance standards, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of industry standards in data security, privacy, and compliance.
  • Experience developing data-driven products that enhance user experience and contribute to overall business goals.
