Plant Overview:
- Over 300 employees
- Holland Plant has been around since 1897
- Products produced: sweet relish, Grey Poupon mustard, yellow mustard, vinegar, pickle variations, BBQ sauce
- Union Facility - Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union (RWDSU)
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Review the production operations efficiency for acetators schedule which entails alcohol levels, acidity levels cycle times, temperatures, air volumes form the following day/night Production
- Ensure acetators discharging the correct gallon volumes
- Review BPCs numbers for forecasting for the entire year - to decide what acetators are making what type of vinegar. Plan is then made to order supplies to meet BPCs requirements, (Malt vinegar, White, Cider).
- Oversee 2,200,000-gal inventory and then create Pumping order to guarantee ample room is available for acetators discharges. Assure alcohol tanks are maintained to properly charge acetators and receivers will hold the discharges. The orders are then used to pass-on to department employees assignments for specified job needs daily.
- Direct the vinegar activities for the day/night shift as well as posting job assignments
- Check raw and in-process material to maintain an operating level which will supply the on-going operations of the acetators, cider mill, malt beer fermentation, alcohol.
- Monitor Bottling production usage to show there are yield losses and make sure plan for supply has ample amount. Check the movement of vinegar, alcohol, and stock in relation to the production requirements for the plant and outside sources.
- Ensure Maintenance of the motors of the acetators are working properly
- Troubleshoot the alkasensor of each acetator, leading to the maint of them which includes, Ensuring the proper air flow, replace seals, clean or change the resistors. Then reprogram the unit by comparing samples at different resistant levels to find the proper alcohol level for the unit. These 3 samples are graphed and programmed into the sensor.
- Oversee the maintenance needs within the department. Leading the maintenance crew where to replace or fix gaps.
- Assist in keeping costs within the department to a minimum - identify when to order UF filters or when to repair the UF filters. Monitor the flow rate to know when to clean the filters. Test the turbidity to know when to shut down the filters.
- Set up the receiving of alcohol rails. Meet the rail cars when they arrive.
- HAZMAT trained and test completed per state requirement.
- Instruct employees in safe method of performing duties (assure good work conditions).
- Report to department supervisor daily on issues
- Oversee 3rd floor vinegar filtering operation including filter operators for production. To assure production schedules are met on a daily basis, including machinery, employees are utilized in a safe and efficient manner.
- Create daily vinegar tank plan for production, Send out email to all production supervisors
- Cleaning, care and calibration of the alkomat, which tests alcohol level of all products.
- Own the cider mill operation. Communicate to the growers and drivers that supply the apples when to bring in the apples and bi-product.
- Order and set up rices hulls delivery needed for cider mill operations. This is done on a 24-hour basis when drivers are delivering.
- Coordination of waste stream on when water can be discharged bases off of current COD.
- Work order generations for all items related in Vinegar department
- Help write CAR for new equipment (acetators). Work with contractors / management through all phases of design, building, installation and startup of new equipment.
- Train all employees on new equipment.
- On call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This requires weekend work as needed when alarms go off or issues arise.
- Make and supply starter seed vinegar for other Heinz factories with acetators that have to be restarted. - Seed will need to be rotated every 120 days.
- Follow safe practices and report safety issues to supervisor as they arise. Conduct safety/GMP observations weekly.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Quality Risk Management Program (QRMP) as assigned.
- Assist leads &perform any other duties as required by supervision.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 - 100 pounds, requesting assistance as necessary.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee will be exposed during his/her job to high noise levels, chemicals, exposure to strong odors, fumes or airborne particles, constant stair climbing, and slippery floors.
Personal Protective Equipment: The employee is regularly required to wear company authorized safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, rubber boots, chemical protection and other personal protective equipment to successfully perform the functions of this job safely.
Qualifications:
- Upon hire will train to become Lock Out Tag Out certified and maintain qualification
- Upon hire will train to become Forklift certified and maintain qualification
- Must successfully pass on the job training and maintain operator qualification
- Able to read, write, and perform basic math functions, such as, multiplication and addition
