About the Opportunity
Video Producer
Northeastern University is looking for a talented Video Producer to join its award-winning video team. He/she/they are a visual storyteller with a curious mind, creative ideas, passion for films, and enthusiasm for telling stories. The Video Producer is a skilled shooter, editor, and post-production specialist – with a focus on visual effects, motion graphics, and color correction.
The Video Producer is responsible for telling stories that promote Northeastern University research. He/she/they works with a team of video producers to plan and produce short films that highlight great stories the university wants to be known for, including stories of interesting people and projects at Northeastern, as well as high-profile projects, and longer-form documentary films.
The Video Producer is part of the Communications team and works in a fast-paced news operation alongside journalists, media relations and social media teams, photographers, web designers, and developers.
Reporting to the VP for Communications, the Video Producer is also responsible for covering high-profile campus events such as Commencement; conducting interviews; shooting b-roll; editing footage for various purposes, etc.
The Video Producer is responsible for all the pre-and post-production activities. Also, he/she/they secure appropriate licensing rights for use of music or other intellectual property; scout and secure film shoot locations and props; review scripts, and hire technical personnel as appropriate. They plan, storyboard, conduct interviews, direct interview subjects, and shoot and edit content with superb quality and speed. The Video Producer will assist with the delivery and distribution of finished projects.
He/she/they are expected to deliver the highest quality of work and show a great amount of flexibility and ability to multitask, change direction on a whim, and work at a high speed.
The Video Producer is expected to be responsive outside of regular business hours and occasionally work on assignments in the evenings and on weekends.
The position is based on the Boston campus and is not eligible for remote work.
Qualifications
The Video Producer must have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of video & multimedia production experience
- Experience in post-production, including visual effects, motion graphics, and color correction
- Expertise with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve
- Proficiency with Canon cinema cameras
- Excellent communications skills
- Great interviewing skills
- Excellent work ethic
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multitask at a fast pace
- Experience in higher education is not needed, nor it is desired.
- Sense of humor
