Vice President, Public Sector Sales
Lantern is seeking a VP, Public Sector Sales with an exceptional track record of success building relationships and selling into state, local and education (SLED) organization to join their Public Sector Sales team. If you love working in a high-speed growth environment and have a passion for and expertise in navigating the nuances of selling into government organizations, this is the role for you.
Lantern's value is proven in this space, with more than 45 current state, municipal, K-12, and higher education clients already on the platform. The VP, Public Sector Sales will leverage their deep expertise of these unique organizations to formulate and execute a sales strategy to expand on this success within a large defined territory. They will be responsible for leading and driving all aspects of the commercial process to achieve the company's sales and profitability goals. They must be a true enterprise sales executive who understands the nuances, politics, and needs of the government and education space. This role requires a strategic mindset to assess the largest opportunities for Lantern and proven results in managing long, complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles that lead to multi-million dollar contracts. The ideal candidate is an exemplary relationship builder and brings an expansive network of contacts in the health and benefits industry and across the public sector.

Responsibilities:
- Build and nurture relationships with large public sector plans, becoming a trusted partner and advisor.
- Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy to grow Lantern's presence within the government space.
- Create a pipeline of target SLED clients, build TOFU with the Lantern Marketing team, and move opportunities to close
- Negotiate contracts and manage complex sales processes.
- Conduct market research to identify key opportunities and ensure Lantern's solutions align with the unique needs of public sector plans.
- Lead effective presentations and discussions to educate stakeholders on Lantern's competitive advantages and value propositions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Consultant Relations and Provider Network Development, to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Foster a collaborative and solution-driven culture in your team that encourages accountability, innovation, and problem-solving.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of direct sales experience selling complex, multi-stakeholder solutions, ideally in the benefits space (SaaS, human capital management, health and welfare benefits, etc., preferred)
- 5+ years of direct sales experience specific to Public Sector
- Resilience to withstand long lead times and government budgeting and procurement practices
- Crisp written and verbal communicator with the demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas to a wide-ranging audience
- Self-starter with ability to work independently, prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks within tight time constraints
- Ability to establish strong team relationships and collaborate in a matrix organization as well as develop solutions proactively and independent of supervision
- Demonstrated track record of exceptional performance against goals
- Bachelors degree preferred
