Join Charter Steel as a strategic and organizational leader. You will drive continuous improvement to help us optimize finance processes and deliver insights. You will interpret operating results, identify improvement opportunities, and lead initiatives to enhance business outcomes. You will design and execute strategies to meet short and long-term goals while maintaining internal controls and finance records and supporting decision-making through detailed analyses. This position sits at our Charter Steel location in Saukville, WI and is an onsite position. You will report into the President of Charter Steel while partnering with our CFO and finance team.

What you will do:

Strategic Financial Leadership & Vision:

  • Provide operational, organizational, and strategic leadership for all finance functions, contributing to long-term strategic vision development and execution in collaboration with business and finance leadership teams. This includes overseeing financial forecasting, budgeting, and supporting the strategic planning process.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals across various disciplines (e.g., corporate finance, shared services, risk/controls, tax, treasury). Foster employee engagement, build talent, and ensure effective communication and training to support informed decision-making. Collaborate with HR on talent development and incentive plan governance.

Financial Operations & Control:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, ensuring proper maintenance of accounting records, compliance with internal controls, and implementation of best practices. Implement and operate using continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Identify and implement supporting information system technologies.

Business Partnership & Financial Analysis:

  • Provide consultative support to the leadership team on the financial implications of business activities, offering financial and management information analysis, reports, and recommendations. Provide clear, concise reporting of financial results, variance analysis, and trend identification for non-financial audiences.

Cash Management & Process Improvement:

  • Support cash management targets, assist in resolving accounts receivable and payable issues, and identify areas for process, policy, and procedure improvement. Ensure the business is trained on finance/economics. Integrate stakeholder perspectives and collaborate with internal and external groups to achieve business results.

What we need you to have:

Educational and Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA/CMA or comparable experience.

Experience and Leadership

  • Twelve plus years of progressive experience in finance/accounting.
  • Four plus years as a Director or Senior Manager of Accounting or Finance.
  • Proven leadership, management, and team development skills.

Analytical and Strategic Skills

  • Strong analytical skills to frame business issues, analyze options, and articulate actions.
  • Ability to seamlessly move between strategic and tactical finance issues.
  • Significant experience in developing and executing strategies at the functional or business level.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capacity to work effectively with multi-level teams in cross-functional areas.
  • Proven ability to manage remotely.

Technical and Project Management Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems and Hyperion or similar reporting tools.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Passion for Continuous Improvement and supporting business growth.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
