Cordance, an acquirer and enhancer of vertically focused SaaS companies, is seeking a Vice President of Engineering, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. As a member of this highly visible team, you will collaborate across all functions and within the technology organization. This role will be responsible for building and operating an Engineering Center of Excellence to improve delivery of features and improvements across several product lines to our customers, while improving efficiency and reducing R&D cost. This role will be a member of Cordance’s senior leadership team, requiring deep technical expertise, management experience, and a strategic mindset, typically gained through years of experience in progressively responsible positions.
This role can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-office; all candidates must be based in US with full work authorization.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and operate Cordance’s Engineering Center of Excellence, including product and infrastructure engineering and operations, security operations, QA, and project management in partnership with our PMO
- Build and execute the strategy for expanding use of the CoE across the business
- Benchmark and measure delivery practices, building plans to improve delivery of features and improvement to customers
- Benchmark and measure R&D spend to ensure efficient spend for both headcount and software
- Own Cordance’s Product Strategy motion, working across lines of business to establish and maintain roadmaps for each product line
- Develop and perform product delivery/SDLC assessments and measure results over time
- Participate in technology due diligence and integration activities for new businesses
- Serve as a mentor and consultant to technologists across the business
- Participate in the hiring process for key technology leaders
- Build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including FP&A, Human Resources, Product & Technology, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations
- Drive accountability for the delivery of several workstreams against their deliverables
- Identify and solve emerging problems; know when to escalate issues to move them forward and, when faced with ambiguity, step into the void to find solutions
- Manage multiple projects concurrently
- Thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere with the confidence to adjust and adapt as priorities change
Qualifications:
- 15+ years experience in software engineering or related fields
- 10+ years experience as a people leader in progressively senior positions
- 5+ years experience as a senior level leader (Director or higher)
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles, architecture, and system design.
- Expertise in multiple programming languages, development frameworks, and infrastructure technologies - both cloud and co-located.
- Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies and other modern development practices like continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- Solid experience managing product development lifecycles and aligning technical roadmaps with business goals
- Extensive experience in managing outsourced or remote development teams, including vendor selection, relationship management, and integration of remote teams into the broader organizational structure
- Experience in setting up and scaling outsourced development operations, ensuring smooth collaboration, and maintaining productivity standards across different locations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly communicate the big picture
- Experience working in a SaaS company
- Proven ability to work directly with all levels of leadership
