What We Need
Synapse Health is seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President, Payor Engagement to lead and enhance our relationships with health plans. This executive leader will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, expanding payor contracts, and optimizing reimbursement strategies.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in managed care, contract negotiation, and value-based arrangements (VBC) while fostering high-impact partnerships with payors. They must excel in relationship management, financial performance oversight, and cross-functional leadership to ensure successful payor engagement and long-term sustainability.
What You Will Do
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Partner with the Chief Growth Officer to expand Synapse Health’s payor network through business development, geographic expansion, and diversification of product lines.
- Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for payer relationships, aligning with Synapse’s long-term objectives, including market penetration and innovative reimbursement models.
- Identify and pursue new payor partnerships that enhance Synapse Health’s market position, financial performance, and service accessibility.
Payor Engagement & Contracting
- Establish and cultivate strong, multi-threaded relationships with key health plan executives and decision-makers to drive mutually beneficial collaborations.
- Lead complex contract negotiations, focusing on improved reimbursement structures, risk-based arrangements, and payer engagement initiatives.
- Serve as the executive point of escalation for payor-related inquiries, ensuring timely resolutions and strengthening partnerships.
- Partner with other executive leaders to drive innovation in value-based care (VBC) arrangements, advancing Synapse Health’s transition to outcome-driven reimbursement models.
Performance Optimization & Market Analysis
- Oversee quarterly Joint Operating Committees (JOCs) to evaluate payor performance, including financial metrics, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Continuously analyze market trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive dynamics to inform Synapse Health’s payor engagement strategies.
- Assess financial and actuarial data to optimize payer contracts, ensuring profitability and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with internal analytics teams to model, monitor, and quantify contract performance.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner across the organization—including operations, revenue cycle, legal, finance, and implementation teams—to ensure seamless payor relationships and contract execution.
- Work closely with actuarial teams to design and track performance-based reimbursement structures.
- Develop and lead external-facing sessions with key stakeholders, demonstrating the value of Synapse’s integrated healthcare solutions.
What You Have
- 15+ years of experience in managed care, payor contracting, and healthcare reimbursement strategies.
- Strong C-level negotiation skills, with a proven ability to secure high-value, strategic contracts with payors.
- Expertise in value-based care (VBC), alternative payment models (APMs), and risk-sharing arrangements.
- A track record of leadership in health plan engagement, network development, and contract performance management.
- Experience working cross-functionally with sales, operations, finance, legal, and actuarial teams.
- Ability to drive enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment between business objectives and payer strategies.
- Exceptional data-driven decision-making skills, leveraging analytics and financial modeling to optimize contracts.
- Strong executive presence with excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
