Position Summary

This newly created role of Content Writer will be an integral part of Brookfield's Wealth Solutions team, responsible for producing compelling content that positions Wealth Solutions as a leader in the retirement and insurance space.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to create engaging and original content that outlines compelling trends in the retirement space that will resonate with individuals thinking about retirement and the brokers who provide them products. This position requires a versatile, experienced professional who can adapt his/her writing style to different audiences and via various media, ensuring that the content resonates effectively with its intended recipients. This person will collaborate closely with the Wealth Solutions business, our portfolio insurance companies and the media relations team, as well as other thought leaders both internally and externally (as appropriate) to uncover relevant topics, data and trends to support content development.

Responsibilities include writing and developing compelling thought leadership pieces, white papers, speeches, sponsored articles and blogs, as well as video and podcast scripts. The writer will work with subject matter experts across Brookfield and our portfolio companies to produce materials that support the firm's business opportunities in the retirement space, including generating story ideas, conducting research on industry-related topics, and repurposing materials for different audience segments. The writer will help develop and execute content strategies and campaigns that align with business goals and target audiences, working closely with communications, marketing, design, and other departments to bring these initiatives to life. He/she will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met, feedback is sought from stakeholders, and quality content is delivered in a timely manner.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • A proven strategic thinker, with the ability to see the bigger picture and how our business fits in.

  • Very articulate, with excellent writing skills—a proven writer, content creator or similar. A portfolio of published articles or written work is required.

  • Knowledge of the retirement space and alternative investing is ideal

  • 10+ years of experience in asset management/financial services required.

  • A creative ability to translate complex topics into clear and engaging content for various platforms and audiences.

  • A consensus-building savvy within a highly collaborative environment that includes a wide range of stakeholders; openness to receiving feedback.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to get projects to the finish line.

  • A self-starter mentality with the ability to prioritize work within a complex, fast-paced environment. Ability to simultaneously partner well with colleagues.

  • The ability to act as a senior advisor to management, engage in discussion about relevant topics, and build consensus around the ideas generated.

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Write and develop compelling and insightful thought leadership, white papers, articles and blogs, video and podcast scripts and other content.

  • Help develop and execute content strategies and campaigns that align with business goals and target audiences; work closely with communications, marketing, design and other departments to bring these to life.

  • Conduct research on industry-related topics, and work with subject matter experts across the organization, our insurance companies and the industry to generate and pursue story ideas.

  • Edit and proofread communications and collateral

  • Repurpose materials as needed for various audience segments.

Salary Range: $185,000 - $225,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education, and designations.
