Role Description

LPL Financial is seeking a VP to join our Business Design and Solutions team within LPL’s Customer Success team. As a trusted partner of Business, Technology, and Product orgs, you will drive strategy, solution ideation, lead cross-functional teams, and contribute to the deep and thoughtful analysis which enables our leadership team to make informed decisions regarding product development, large conversions, strategic partnerships, and our organic growth strategy.

The ideal candidate for this role has a combination of strong business acumen, a consulting mindset, and software, product, and financial services knowledge to assist with the development and delivery of new business lines, software tools, and integration of strategic partnerships.  Additionally, you will ensure creative and continuous improvements to our advisor facing products – with the goal of invigorating our existing advisor base, leading the market, and attracting additional business.

This team within Business Strategy and Growth focuses on capabilities which span business lines, product families, and business operations, which enable advisor journeys with a focus on optimization of the new client relationship onboarding and ongoing client maintenance. You will have the opportunity to work on the firm's highest priority initiatives to provide leadership with timely, accurate, and insightful commentary and recommendations. You will gain a full understanding of, and the ability to explain, all business aspects of our products/platforms while working with numerous business units across the firm. This role will embrace strategic, entrepreneurial, analytical, product, and project management skillsets to support our growth and positioning across the entire wealth management market as LPL continues to expand.

This role will be helping shepherd the delivery of a customer onboarding transformation, focused on the development of a Single Contract journey.  This critical evolution enables our advisors to build a more client-centric practice and enables streamlined operations for advisors and their clients, minimizing paperwork requirements while facilitating speed-to-action for every day activities, allowing advisors to spend more time with their clients, and less time on administrative minutiae.  In addition these capabilities will empower cleaner and more efficient reporting, increased insights into client level portfolios, and refine the way LPL creates relationship level views.

What will you do as the Vice President, Business Design & Solutioning, Client Onboarding?

  • Collaborate on internal workstreams to drive strategy and decision-making specific client onboarding with a key focus on Advisor and Business Operations personas.
  • Partner with teams focused on CRM capabilities, Account Lifecycle Management, Data Transformation, and Operational Enablement, ensuring cohesive planning while maintaining focus on our cross functional outcomes and journeys.
  • Engage with Business subject matter experts within Legal, Compliance, and Investment products to sus-out critical business requirements and outcomes, supporting the Product teams in the development of clear acceptance criteria and backlogs which will enable a cohesive solution set.
  • Demonstrate ownership of the “Client Relationship Agreement” strategy and outcomes, taking direct action to ensure streamlined planning and execution while serving as a direct escalation path to address blockers and rally subject matter experts from across the organization to tackle complex challenges.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, product, technology, and operations, to align and execute on partnership objectives and goals
  • Consult with corporate strategy, business leadership, operations, risk and compliance, and other key stakeholder groups in order to represent their perspective and business needs in the context of our strategic roadmaps.
  • Stay current on industry trends and developments and incorporate this knowledge into the partnership design and solutioning

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the financial services industry. We desire strong thought leaders focused on driving strategy within the firm to successfully drive innovation and journey-simplification in the client onboarding experience. They must be collaborators who can lead multiple workstreams to deliver a world-class stakeholder experience. Additionally, we are looking for someone to execute and thrive in a fast-paced and entrepenuerial environment, are driven to progress innovative solutions centered on client experience in a team-oriented fashion. The Assistant Vice President role should be able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and creates strategic solutions and operational structures to support these partnerships.

What skills, experiences, and education are advantageous?

  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry, including regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with large wealth management institutions and driving growth through strategic partnerships
  • Demonstrated experience working with client or account onboarding within financial services, with specific knowledge relating to digital experiences, investor level contracts & terms, and/or onboarding operating rhythms and dependencies (IE. CIP, AML controls, Best Interest, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5 - 7 years' product management, management consulting, corporate strategy, or project management preferably within a financial services or related FinTech firm
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives/projects at one time, work within a team, show strong attention to detail, communicate clearly and concisely, work comfortably with incomplete information, and deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-driven individual with high level of motivation, positive attitude, commitment to excellence and integrity, and hunger to contribute to a growing team in a start-up-like atmosphere
  • Robust analytical skills with an ability to identify relevant data, evaluate business opportunities within the context of a larger organization, influencing leadership based on data-driven decisions by presenting findings in a clear and actionable manner
  • Proactive problem solver, expected to present problems and recommendations simultaneously
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • The preferred candidate will be local to an LPL corporate office

  • Working with others in the team, department, and across the company to understand the LPL ecosystem and how it pertains to our strategic plays, new business lines, M&A deals, and product development


 

Pay Range:

$145,388-$242,313/year
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
