Main responsibilities
• Manage interactions with key stake holders in relation to fund management activities such as 
sufficient funding by vessel Owner and funds received timely.
• In consultation with Fleet Manager, prepare & present budget and forecasting analysis results to 
internal and external stakeholders, ranging from senior management to ship owners.
• Review cost overrun areas and propose recommendations to Fleet Manager based on budget and 
forecast reports.
• Review financial reports to ensure expenditure falls within budget or fund allocation and prompt Fleet 
Manager wrt deviations (Joint responsibility with Vessel Manager).
• Promote understanding of vessel financial performance with internal and external stakeholders and 
propose cost control improvements on a general level.
• Review fleetwide spend in specific cost categories and propose service improvement measures in 
collaboration with Fleet Manager.
• Perform financial analysis on operating expenses (OPEX), Dry dock, capital expenditure (CAPEX) 
and other non-opex additional cost of vessels.
• Participate in OPEX review meetings with internal team and vessel Owner as observer.
• Work closely with the accounting/procurement team to ensure OPEX and CAPEX costs are correctly 
captured, including preparation of OPEX and CAPEX entries.
• Regularly verify that expense sheets are maintained correctly with the right commentary & account 
coding. Report gaps to Fleet Manager.
• High level review of monthly budget follow up comments input by Vessel Managers and propose 
possible improvements to Fleet Manager.
• Contribute to the optimization of administrative and financial processes and procedures related to 
vessel OPEX (Procurement to Pay/ Financial reporting process)

 
• Assist Fleet Management with the compilation of budget assumptions and review accuracy of budget 
input per budget assumptions.
• Oversee mitigation of risks identified from shipping and financial risk assessments.
• Work closely with internal auditor to ensure compliance of procedures and external auditor for 
statutory non-financial audit.
• Review and enhance control procedures/efficiency/governance of workflows.
• Help and advice team in understanding financial reports.
• Support the development of budgets for bids for new business
• Propose key performance indicators (KPIs) for budgeting and cost efficiencies and present to General 
Manager.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis to assist Fleet/Vessel manager with business decisions such as 
identification of cost savings and impact of exchange rates, etc.
• Support in ad-hoc tasks as required
Qualifications
Mandatory requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalents
• The candidate is expected to have around 3-5 years of relevant work experience, e.g. OPEX 
controlling, Vessel accounting & financial analysis
• Experience in maritime/shipping company or equivalent is an advantage
• Good analytical & financial reporting skills
• A team player with the capability to work independently when needed. Good written and spoken 
English.
Additional preferences
• Possess good business acumen.
• Proficiency with financial software packages (SAP), especially MS office and BI tools (Tableau and/or 
Power BI).
• Detail-oriented and excellent at reviewing and numbers.
• Dynamic and flexible
• Critical thinking and problem solving
